I wouldn't recommend studying with music on, you won't be able to focus as well. I listen to music only when I'm doing something written about a subject I already know, never when studying something new. Try to study/do homework for 45-50 minutes then take 5-10 minute breaks in-between. Take longer if you need as long as you finish your work properly.

Twelve subjects is quite a handful. Which ones matter depends on what you want to specialize later in life. If you're good at what you want and you struggle with only 4 other subjects that aren't as important to you as others then that's ok.

Motivation is very subjective and depends on the person. Personally I do better when I have a multitude of short term goals to complete that lead up to one bigger goal. I also work better under pressure since I can't afford to get distracted or lazy.

Going to college isn't always necessary, but this also depends on what career path you wish to take. For example it is impossible to become a doctor unless you studied it in college/university, but you can be an animator without a degree if you got the skillz. A highschool degree in my opinion however is necessary if you want to do anything in life really. I know you're not always studying stuff that matters or you will use but no one will ever employ someone without at least a highschool education. If you're tight on money you can take student loans which will screw you over with debt, or you can perhaps take a break year and get a job to get some money to help out with college fees. Or you can just get really high grades and take a scholarship.

I will answer the last question because the other ones are based off of what you prefer more than a set way.

Basically what smile said, except there are some loans you can take that are interest free as long as you complete the course. Thus, if you have a part time job while going to college, you can start paying for your loans early and get them out of the way as soon as possible.

Be careful with interest free loans where the "interest free" part expires, thus dumping the accumulated interest of the loan you took just because you didn't finish the course. Colleges dont give a shit where their money comes from, just that they're paid.

Point being, if you take a loan, make sure you make paying it off as soon as possible. Interest fucking sucks and can add thousands of dollars to the money you owe.

From my own experience, listening to music can be very distracting. Though this really depends on the kind of music you listen to. Needless to say, loud, high beat, pumpin music is not suited for study. But there if you can't handle studying without background noise there study music that exists; just youtube it. I heard classical music was beneficial but to what extent I'm unsure of.

12 subjects is A LOT. Though the real queston to ask here is how much hours of that subject are being taught to you each week. My physiology lecture said that for every hour of lecture I should be spending 2.5-3 hours on review. 3 lectures a week, 7.5-9 hours a week of study. Of course I would say this is just the minimum and if you want really good grades the investment is much more. But highshool is different from university and I can't add more without further details from your end.

And there is no best method. Each person absorb information differently and different subjects require different approaches. Again, more details please.

Best method to motivate oneself besides Asian guilt? Know that by studying now, you will stress less later. Picture that your task through the semester or year is to hip this block of marble into a pretty sculpture. With a bit of work every day you will eventually get there in time. Slack off and leave it to the last minute, you won't have time to even produce something remotely looking like the sculpture. You should be fueled by the fear of falling behind and continue to stay up to date, otherwise you will continued to be buried to the point where a recovery is not possible. In the case where you feel you can't keep up, speak to your teacher or perhaps minimize the amount of subjects you do each year. If you are studying 12 intensive subjects at once I can't see it as anything but an sub-par learning experience.

Oh one other thing. If you are ever feeling sleepy or tired during study a 10-15 minute nap is all you need to recover. No more then that though. You don't have to sleep, you just have to rest your eyes and breath.

I personally can only listen to classical pieces while I study. Like Beethoven or Mozart. It's supposedly good for brain stimulation too.

Would you say you are dependent on the music, or it is something that juat offers a little boost. I heard from some people that they can't study without music and have trouble in exams where it is too quiet.

It's more of a boost, without it though I am distracted very easily. During a test however I have set questions I need to answer so that keeps my mind from wandering too much, but when studying it's less questions and more memorizing, so without music I just start to doze off and think about other things.

OH YEAH, thank you for reminding me Kieran.

Be sure you apply to FAFSA when applying for student loans, the government can actually give you thousands of dollars as long as you complete your education and depending on your parents financial situation.

No. (Unless you meant music with people singing) Also, someone mentioned classical music. Yes.
I'm probably not helping him a lot. I just couldn't stop myself from posting this. Sorry.
