Abilities: Amber can affect the molecular structure of most kinds of paper, to be able fold it past the threshold of the usual 7 folds and turning it into a truly sturdy substance. She can thus create tiny blades that can actually cut through steel. Important to note that this is not origami and she just creates sharp objects without a care for the artform or aesthetics of her work. She doesn't even know what origami is and thinks paper-folding is a revolutionary skill.(Chamel)
Weakness: Her brave and adventurous nature, patterned by her inquisitive attitude has spawned sort of a daredevil attitude where she will pursue an angle no matter how dangerous. (iarentevil)
Story: Amber was born was born in 1865 after invention of the typewriter to Sands & Sands, a firm composed of a pair of lovebird Clerical Assistants. As such, her love for the invention that spawned their love and passion for her, became a huge part of her daily life. However, this resulted in a pretty much gilded life of boredom and logic, something that eventually allowed her to explore her imagination using this very same typewriter.
She eventually gets the knack for being able to write out entire universes and has become quite the prominent science-fiction of her time. This of course spurned a little worry from her parents who don't believe such things are useful to this world. Heartbroken, Amber was prepared to torch all her works in preparation for a life at the convent she had been assigned to. But as she did this, her typewriter began to glow and her works flew and spiraled into a maelstrom of imagination and wonder. She stepped forward.
And thus on April the 5th of 1878, police were baffled by the mysterious disappearance of Amber Sands. The case itself would be closed 10 years later, much to the consternation and sadness of her friends and family.(Vern)
Personality: It goes without saying that Amber was quite progressive for her age, and maybe her disappearance came at just the right time. Otherwise, it would have snuffed her creative, inventive, and curious nature. She tries her very best to keep a steady head and doesn't like dawdling---something she feels she's done her whole life. She's what can be seen as incredibly bright at the time and likes to pick things apart and see how things work. She feels a need to analyze everything around her as that is the foundation for her writings; a steadily improving universe. (WafflesMgee)
Appearance: Unfortunately Amber wasn't prepared for the journey of her life. She admittedly had a little roleplay before deciding to torch her work and thus, she entered this realm in pure cosplay; a worn out military coat that was big enough for her to be intimidating and doubles as a 'space suit' (apparently it supposedly belongs to her grandfather who fought in a war). And what space suit wouldn't be complete without a helmet, which is represented by a cardboard cutout fitting perfectly over her head like a mask. She even dabbles it pink to denote that its hers (ipman).
FAQ
How much paper does she have on her?
- Enough to last awhile. She acquired quite a bit in the scuffle of the maelstrom that engulfed her life. Plus I'm pretty sure the new universe has paper.
How old is she?
- Read her bio again. You'll see.
What was her writing like?
- Like any girl her age. Connect the dots and allow a few liberties.
What is her fictional universe like?
- A setting simulating things that aren't her city life; nature. freedom. exploration. the stars. Something out of a children's novel. Really, "sci-fi" is a lax term here. Use whatever setting you deem significant. I always have "The grassy Moon" on my mind.
Can Amber theoretically make diamond-like paper as she keeps folding infinitely?
- Yes but take note of her age. I doubt she'd know what she even doing and all she figures out is that it's either really hard or really sharp or both.
Define "prominent sci-fi of the time".
- Well, it's the 1860s. People were still afraid of opening to knocks on a door to find no one there. Prominent just means that she thought of things no one did in the imagination sense. Realize that she lives in a world grounded on reality and logic. Basically, the Lewis Caroll of her time.
How will our points do in these special circumstances?
- Easy. It's a no-risk battle for you but not for me. All you have to do is submit. If you submit, you get pts if you win. If you don't, you don't incur a loss. Even if I miraculously do not deliver.
I am late to the party, can I still battle you?
- No. Not even to challenge me after the event. This character is a limited-edition affair and shall be locked soon after.
