Welcome to the colony of Altruis. Home to four million people, Altruis is an unusually large hypercosm of human settlement in a planet largely dominated by agriculture wherever it’s flat, and heavy industry wherever it’s not. Ironically, Altruis has become anything but altruistic; since those that cannot find employment generally flock to Altruis. The city has become rife with crime, and although the local police do a noble job of keeping most neighborhoods safe, they do not have eyes everywhere, and several notable gangs have sprung.
The Red Dragon Mafia is the most “movie villain” of them them all, its members sporting tattoos and the gang itself containing a chain of command. Although by no means the most dangerous, Red Dragon has a firm grasp on the heroin trade in Altruis, and has many ties to leadership within Altruis itself.
But everything will change, and Grecino Markose will be the man to do it.
Grecino Markose grew up in Altruis, and in standard rags-to-riches growth, he wants to win the election for Mayor of Altruis, and “clean the streets”. You are one of his investigators; recruited from a nearby transporter. Your job is to protect Markose, as well as investigate any wrongdoing the current Mayor, Tolemsky, might be responsible for. You will be paid handsomely for your services, and if Markose wins the election, you should expect enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life.
Not everything is as easy as it seems, and although Markose may have good intentions for Altruis, something seems off.
Tolemsky is already the safe vote, since the population knows him. Tolemsky also controls the police, and has been known to be fairly aggressive with them.
