There's no thread about it, do we want to talk about it?

I dunno.

All I have to say is:
Hell, it's about damn time.

Congrats, LGBT(other letters) community. You are now free to marry.

I've got nothing to really say on the matter, I've supported the community for years now. I'll admit, I didn't read through the 100+ pages of opinions of the justices though. I'm honestly not that interested in them.

Keep an eye out for what they're trying to distract you from. I might sound cynical but with real threats like the TPP looming out of general sight I wonder if this isn't timed to distract the population and media while they pass something unpopular so there's no public outcry.

Either way we shouldn't let that possibility spoil how awesome it is. Canada's had legalized gay marriage for a long time now and there has never been any negative side to it. I'm glad the US has caught up because it's stupid to have laws that subvert the rights of consenting adults due to the gender they are attracted to. Marriage has nothing to do with religion as far as the law is concerned. The ceremony is a different story, and it's fine if religious institutions don't want to participate in gay weddings, but that shouldn't stop people from obtaining the legal benefits that come with marriage. Religion is not supposed to be institutionalized, this should have happened a long time ago.

Quote from SCOTUS]No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right. The judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed.

It is so ordered.[/quote]

can't wait for the fallout from this decision. it's already coming in waves and it's entertainment at its finest.

ehh maybe but I don't think they even need a distraction, it's clearly going to be passed and the vast majority of the population has no idea.

After years of fighting for equal marriage rights, we all come to the same, unfortunate conclusion. So yeah as it turns out marriage sucks ass.

Anyway, it's about time. Hopefully my dumb-ass country follows suit.

Yeah that was more of an example of shitty things not a lot of people know about, I didn't mean that's specifically what they were trying to hide lol, there are a lot of controversial issues going on right now that I'm sure not a lot of people are aware of. Like the recent breach of government workers insanely private data exposing how incompetent the US government is with cyber security. Again I'm not saying specifically or for sure that it's a distraction tactic, but I wouldn't put it past them since they have done it previously.

Also I love the sarcastic reactions from married people to this so far.

That's it, my wife and I are getting a divorce.

I know. It's a shame. I really loved my wife. I loved her more than life itself. But this morning when I woke up that love was just gone. Then I read this and I realized what happened. I'm going to miss her so much. I hope my new husband can cook half as well as she does.

Its a little after 9:00am here in Kentucky. At this moment my wife and I are still straight-married. If something changes or if our marriage is suddenly destroyed I'll post updates.
Edit: I heard a loud thunderous sound and thought that the end of our marriage was near. Turns out the, it was just a tractor trailer truck hitting its Jake brakes. Will continue to update.
Edit 2: I heard a loud knock at the door so I grabbed my guns to protect my marriage. It was just the UPS guy. Will continue to monitor.

Have any 'scientists' predicted a drop in population in the future, now that fags and dykes are tying the knot?

Would a population drop really be that big a deal?

I think he's being sarcastic.

Gay marriage won't affect the population. It's not like gay people were straight and making babies before they legalized it.

I know it's sarcasm, but I asked that question in all seriousness. Would a population drop actually be an issue?

As I had mentioned, I don't think so. Just because gay marriage wasn't legal doesn't mean gay people weren't gay. They would have still NOT had babies even if it wasn't legalized.

Either way aren't sperm banks available and stuff for lesbian couples?

yes, but the projected massive decline in future populations isn't expected to be caused by decreasing birth rates, but from the second coming of Christ who will cleanse the earth of these godless heathens. probably while riding in on a bald eagle.

Ok, let me spell this out:

I am curious if a population decrease would be a bad thing. I am not asking if gay marriage would be the propagator of said population decrease. It could be a secondary plague for all I care.
