I never knew oblivion had a difficulty slider untill today. I found it when i went to go change a setting, and found that I'd been playing on the hardest difficulty for a long time.

Post experiences about accidentally doing things in games the hard way.

haha, nice. Oblivion's difficulty is pretty sucky, it's either one hit kills on everyone (I normally do this when assassinating people, makes it more realistic) or super mega****shit hard.

I don't really have a "Doing things harder than they should be" problem, but one of my friends actually uses the arrow keys for PC FPSing.

I use bow and arrow mainly all the time.

I have my difficultly on somewhat medium-easy, mainly because i find it hard to believe it takes 7 arrows to kill a ****ing.. fire troll thing.

I might raise it up a bit now that i'm thinking about it, cause it is a bit easy.
this is how i have it now

this is what im changing it to now lolol

I think that the game is actually harder if you try to level up. the enemies start to summon, heal, and use status effect spells more often at higher levels, and their stats raise along with you, so the game is impossible for me at the middle difficulty level.

You haven't heard about the leveling system in Oblivion? Like every time you level up, the enemies level up twice.

No, I knew they leveled with you before I ever even played Morrowind, it's just that it's not well balanced: while they level at the same rate as you, they start to use more varied magic and shit, and so they are far too hard to kill.

I think the game would be better if they just improved the fighting AI and spell library of enemies, that would allow it to stay balanced.

This is very well known stuff.

Everyone in the Bethesda community still to this day bitches about this. This, and the fact the AI wasn't what was shown in the video previews.

But Beth has learnd their mistake, and wont screw up the levelling in Fallout 3. Basically, the story enemies will level up with you, but everyone else will be at a set level. Like enemies at this gas station will always be level 5 or something

Yeah, I'm at level 15 with one of my characters now and already some of the enemies are ridiculous to kill while others are a piece of cake. I've never really bothered with the difficulty slider though, just left it at medium

yeah, even their boxes said they were using Radiant AI which is ****ing awesome in theory, and they didn't because npcs you need might die, but i dont see why you don't just make it so they "fall unconscious"

Or just make them invincible to attacks or something

Supposedly at one point it got to the point where like a whole city fell into ruins. Someone shot a deer for food, then I guess there was animal rights activists getting pissed, so they started fighting, guards got involved, some people hated the guards so they started fighting, and then yeah

Sounds extremely cool to me. I'd rather mess around with an actual dynamic world than do scripted "QUESTS!"

Holy shit. I've been playing at medium.

Just switched it to MEGA EASY. What a sad day for the people of Tamriel. Especially considering most of them are about to die.
