The Draw your own comic thread gave me an idea. What if we do something similar, except with an animation. We have fixed size and based on that we all start a story and continue each other's story for about 10-30 seconds. Does anyone think it is worth a try or will it be a flop?

Has this ever been tried here before? Does anyone think it is destined to be a humongous failure? Do we have the dedication for it?

All discussions welcome. This is NOT the start of such a thread, but simply a discussion first on whether such a thread would be worth anyone's time. Given how quickly the Stickpage Animation Project fizzled out, I would rather discuss it fully first.

I'd say it'd most likely just end up being a failure. People will be to lazy to make animations and thread goes inactive.

it's absolutely ridiculous that this is probably true despite the fact that you're describing an animation community

Honestly, I think it would depend on how it is started by the first person. Be it action based, comedy, some kind of horror. Anything that may get some blood pumping ideas. Added to the fact that you said 10-30 seconds I would assume it would be pretty stable. Maybe

This has been done before a few times. It only really works when the right people get together. As Scatter pointed out, it's most likely that people will lose interest and wont finish. The only times when any collaborative project goes well are when it's super simple and fun, or when a noteworthy member with an established history of animation is running it. If I'm being honest I doubt most animators would care if it was run by current active SP members, since not many (or none) of them have any creative clout as far as capable contributors care.

Although that's really only if the project is serious and quality matters. If quality is not an issue and it was incredibly laid back like the continue the comic thread is, I'm sure people with 10 minutes to spare would fuck around in flash to make a part. I think you'd just need someone to manage it all and stop people from fighting like the continue the comic thread, since animation requires more time than a drawing. You'd probably have to queue up a bunch of people and hand the animation file around yourself to them.

I would put aside some of my hours upon hours of free time for something like this.
