Abilities:
Aurum can change into plasma at which point he will be able to move at lightning fast (literally) speeds.
He can create a golden thread (about thrice the strength of spider silk. A usual strand is about a millimetre in width however this can vary to only a hundredth of a milimeter) from his right arm.
He is body naturally gives of electricity which he can focus into blasts.
Increased strength and toughness (not exactly superhuman though)

Weaknesses:
Turning into and back from plasma usually takes quite a while.
While his string is strong, he cannot lift things that are extremely heavy(Such as tanks)
He has to be focused to produce the thread.
The more beaten up he is the less electricity he produces.

About:
Over a millennium ago the gods would send monsters and demons down to the mortal plane for amusement. Each month a champion was to be chosen to battle against these monsters in giant arenas. Once Aurum was selected as the champion he went on to win countless battles against the monsters until the gods, sick of his victories sent down a giant demonic spider. Try as he might Aurum could not defeat it and was sealed away in it's golden silk; Only to be reborn again over 1000 years later. Now he is trying to find what has happened to his people.
