So Christmas is a month away and I can feel it; someone is going to make a thread about what you'd like for Christmas. Well this thread acts in reverse because we're still in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Instead of musing what we would like to have, let's talk about what we are thankful for.
Simply discuss what was the best thing you ever got. Why. And if anything, what impact did it have in your life. Behind every gift is a story however brief or verbose so just let it rip and share.
A 'gift' could range from:
- something practical
- something cool
- something only you find dear that would hold sentimental value
- something abstract
- something intangible (ex: Archery classes, a paid holiday, etc.)
- something fun
And note that this doesn't have to be a Christmas present. It could be your birthday, or Valentines, or just out of the blue someone decided to gift you.
What is the best present you ever received?

It's unnerving to think that I can't really think of anything. I got a new laptop a while back as a gift, and it's not that I don't appreciate new things or think it's nothing special, but it just stands as sort of a material item. I can't really think of anything that means something to me. Half the time I just get money for events that warrant gift exchanges.

i'd say existing right now, it's called the present for a reason :¬)
pfawhawhaw I can't pull that off. I won a raffle in primary school and won a PC, kickstarted my whole animation hobby and made me what i am now.

My ex gave me his old PSP, and I played some excellent games that introduced me to some cool fandoms.

Getting a teddy bear from my sister on my second birthday. Best thing about it being that I still have it.

Can beatdowns be considered gifts?

Thank you for posting before me, now I get to hog the spotlight on page 2.

It was an amazing recent gift on steam. Of course, the laptop I play it on is also an amazing gift (if a bit old, technology-wise. It's four years old now.)

Getting the Playmobil pirate ship I always wanted. I think I was 9 when I got it. It was actually a surprise gift from my father and the fact that it was too expensive of a toy to get added to the moment. I still have it and it's actually serving still as a decoration in my bedroom to this day feeding me nostalgic aura.
