This is a thread to discuss what you may know, or what you like about Greek mythology. Please do not fill up this thread with talk about other mythology (comparisons to other mythologies is completely fine), and/or Rick Riordan's writing. This thread is to discuss the topics of Greek Mythology only. First are three questions for you to answer.

1. Who is your favorite character from Greek Mythology?

2. What is your Favorite tale from Greek Mythology?

3. What is your Favorite Greek Mythological weapon?

Well to start off:
1) My favorite character is totally Ares, the GOD OF WAR!
2) My favorite tale is incredibly, Jason and the Argonauts, because out of all the gods and monsters, Jason's a regular guy.
3) My favorite weapon is definitely the Sycthe of Cronus! It can split your body from your soul! Being a ginger, I think that's awesome! XD

I'll just get this running.

1. My favorite character is Artemis.
I love her spirit and style - especially the way she turned people into beasts. She's known also for her chastity and group of huntresses

The other two are a little hard. I'll need to think a bit.

Seems Ignus beat me here by seconds.

2:
I think I rather enjoyed and was quite saddened(shhh) by the story of Callisto and Zeus. Its where Zeus who fell in love with one of Artemis's Huntresses and well... seduced her. In the end, Callisto gave birth to a son, breaking one of the sacred rules of Artemis. The price was that Callisto be turned into a bear. Hera, wife of Zeus, was jealous of Callisto and attempted to have Callisto murdered. To save her, Zeus turned Callisto into one of the constellations, Usra Major.

I thought it was rather sad that Callisto never meant for this to happen and was punished for it. But the cool part was because she was turned into one of the constellations. :)

1. I've always liked Hades.

2. Hercules' labors was always cool. Also though really messed up the story of Oedipus is really good.

3. Idk if it counts as a weapon but the golden fleece is beyond awesome.

1) Odysseus for being a genious.
2) Euripidis's tragedy "Helen"(I don't know if it counts as mythology but it's still ancient greek fiction based on mythology)
3) Medusas head... it's a head that turns people to stone...

Though being Greek myself I'm kind of fed up with mythology but I can still appreciate it.

1) I'm gonna have to go with Apollo. He's pretty cool with his job of riding the flaming chariot across the sky
2) Um, probably Andromeda. idk why, I just love it.
3) I'd say Cronos's scythe as well. Its just so badass!

The main Greek tale that pops out to me is that of the Sphinx. Mainly because when someone answers her bullshit riddle, she gets so pissed off, that rather than going into a rampage or just cussing people like regular folks, it eats itself. It's the strangest thing you could have come up with.

Zeus gives birth through his thigh at one point. Most of the problems in greek mythology would have been solved if Zeus could keep it in his pants.

I think that's actually Helios (god of the sun). Apollo is the handsome god of music and other things. He's cool...

Actually, I think the myth went that Helios gave up his job as god/titan of the sun, giving his title to Apollo. So, both of them ride a chariot, but Apollo currently does it, if Greek Myth was true.
