april fool's day is traditionally something organized by the mod team (pretty sure I started this tradition with the whole Newman fiasco and you all know how much I hate change), collectively getting together to discuss ideas over 2 months in advance seems to go against the whole spirit of the thing doesn't it? is it just me?

Nah, it just ruins the whole idea if you know what's coming.

First I was like "hm true" but then I got an idea.

Allow me to present you with a suggestion. Let the members post up ideas in this thread. After two weeks (or a month) just delete it. You'll be left with a bunch of suggestions to play with or morph or whatever. In the end, only mods will be able to see it and you guys can decide whether to use any or not. I'm pretty sure not many people will remember the contents of this thread by April the 1st.

I'll still do my thing tho, because I'll work on making it fun and I used to be a mod so whatever. I hope you'll participate too when I make it.

Perhaps we can bring an old vet member "back to life", like Jeremy or 2D. Just tossing ideas.

You know what goes against the spirit of the thing more? Apathetic idiots spoiling it on the day itself. Every year its the same old shit; people annoyed more than they are impressed. And Everyone does this, even the 'cool' users like Drone and Zero. The purpose of this thread is to shoot down ideas that you know we're thinking, so you can subvert them when the time comes. The Mod's imagination far outstretches that of the common plebe. And that goes for Jeff as well.

Like seriously, have you seen the ideas on this thread? Necro-ing an old member (against the rules). Pranks concerning Banning People (laughably not allowed). Putting cats everywhere (like Jeff does all the time whenever he wants irregardless of the holiday). Doing Nothing as a Psych Out (the best idea ever---that requires no effort from anyone so its pointless). And you're afraid that ideas are being stolen every passing second?

Yeah. Like any of those above will ever make it past assessment phase. And I'm pretty sure Jeff is just going to be annoyed when he gets spammed by AF PM's for 62 days straight.

You've misjudged the purpose of this thread. We aren't suggesting what the Mods ought to do for this year's AF. We are opening our minds to you so that you Mods know what we are expecting...and that requires us to share what the Mods ought to do, but that doesn't mean it's what you SHOULD do. I said it already:

The possibility that an idea from this thread would be used is A POSSIBILITY. It doesnt have to be and it was never intended. AF has been crap for awhile now; if this thread offered its own piece of mind, the Mods can outlevel our expectations.
