to be honest i wasn't expecting smile to take my soul until i die a second time. he's meant to harvest souls when a player leaves the game, not when they're defeated, right?

I think the Lich is considered a new player since if it weren't as such, you would still be within the A-Game.

If you are familiar with Fantasy, you'll realize that a Lich is an UNDEAD mage of sorts. Thus, to become a Lich, you have to have died.

On the other hand, if this Fantasy definition is adhered to, Lich should not have a Soul to be consumed if you are killed a second time.
