Hey doods, so I decided to finally give this a go. I'm pretty sure my quality will be shit but lets see if the humour can win me some brownie points at the very least.

I am parodying : Point and click sniper games. I used to play a ton of these earlier, basically you would be a sniper and all you'd get are crosshairs and limited bullets and you would somehow have to take on a horde of enemies.

Progress:

Story : 50% - I've got the main story fleshed out. Including the beginning, the middle, the climax and the end. But I've got to add the small details and jokes in now.

Animation : 0% - Haven't started shit yet.

Visual Design : 50% - I know what my characters and visuals are going to look like. But I'm yet to actually make them. However, as GI JOE says, knowing is half the battle.

Sound Design : 50% - I have all my music and sound ready. There isn't actually going to be any background music in it (*GASP*), all the sound and music will be diegetic, which means it will all come from within the story.

Plot synopsis:

After a sweeping genocide of his own people for fun, the bloodthirsty dictator of Teardrop Island, Agon Nee managed to bribe his way to being cleared of all war crimes by the world council's Department of Legal Trouble in Geneva. However, the last remaining members of the Teardrop Rebellion know that if Agon Nee is allowed to return from Geneva in one piece, he will carry on his massive slaughter of all those who oppose him. In order to stop him, they hire the only man alive capable of executing such a high-profile, high-security target. The assassin known as Bullet Bronson. However, coming from such an impoverished country, they cannot afford to buy him luxurious assassination item. The only weapon they can buy him, even after pooling all their resources, is a single bullet. How Bronson manages to kill Agon Nee and his team of elite guards with a single bullet forms the story.

Question to anyone who might be interested: In the old sniper games I used to play, the story would be told through a moving webcomic type style. With animations through the panels and shit. I'm planning to give that style and try and see how it looks. Thoughts? (if any)

Considering that originality is one of the main criteria that's going to be graded, I'd say that it sounds like an interesting direction to go. It would also make dividing scenes or individual games easier on your part. I'd say go for it. Good luck.

Yes, I think I should have worded it better cause I've been PMed by a couple of people about it. It will have music but it will be diegetic. Which means the background music won't be external, it will come from things within the story, such as the protagonist listening to music while he snipes. So I will have music, but it will all originate from within the story.

Update : After careful consideration and multiple concerned feedback messages, I have decided to have non-diegetic background music as well. So yeah, its going to have BGM that originates even outside the mechanics of the story. It probably works better since I'm trying out the animated webcomic style for some segments.

Thanks Arch!

While the comic book sequence-vignettes look like that, that game parody will look like this:

Basically it is structured like this: Game Parody - Comic book style Cutscene - Game Parody - Comic book style Cutscene - etc...
