I think Avatar is so you can keep your effective energy level higher than it would be if you took normal damage. I don't think it actually helps mitigate damage as such.

Oh yeah nominations

Sidekick and Very Big.
Also, do we passively regenerate energy?

Well then I don't really understand how it's played, even after reading the info. Maybe I missed something.
If I went 100 in defense(assuming it's a 1-1 ratio), would I not be immortal, if we only have 100 energy to use? Unless someone went 100 in offense and hit me, and someone else went 1-99 and hit me.

At max energy of 100 if you all in on defence you block up to 100 damage as you prioritise. Say there's 5 of us and you all in 100 defence turn one and take no damage. Then on turn 2 we might all think gosh this Tecness guy is no fun and all commit 30 attack onto you which would deal (30*5)-100 damage and leave you at 50 energy. If that happened again on turn 3 you'd have lost even with maxing defence each turn.

I suspect therefore that the only way someone is not going to get knocked out immediately is if we agree to not team onto any specific player but either way I suspect we may see some kingmaking later into the game due to the fragility of our heros.

Skele is right on. This isn't just a game of powers. This is also a game of politics. Making alliances, ganging up on one guy and maintaining balance so that no user is too powerful, then striking when the time is right.

Anyways, Skele is in and we have an unexpected guest. We will start in a few hours.

The way I see it, it means instead of dying at 0 energy, you die at 50. However, you keep more energy through the game. So you die when you reach have your energy (50) from your 100 as your energy is taken by damage is halved.

It may come across a bit greedy but I actually see it as a passive way of keeping high amounts of energy with a reasonable drawback.

Signing up phase is now over.

We will now proceed to Power Bids:

Powers up for Bid (Click to Show)

Everyone now PM me which powers you would like to bid for. Remember, you will use up Energy to bid so choose wisely.

If you are unclear how bidding works, refer to the rules. If you have follow-up questions, just post them in this thread.

Bidding ends as soon as everyone has PM'd me.

Here is a sample bid PM:

Souleater - 5
Gemini Suit - 8
Sidekick - 10
Very Big - 10
Plague - 20
Poisonous Membranes - 4

Remember that only if you WIN a bid, does your overall energy decrease. In the above example, if only Very Big and Plague win for you, you will start the game with those 2 powers and 70 Energy.

We will be publicly stating attack and defense on the thread rather than PMs then, yes?

so I just realized that cosmic particles will LITERALLY END THE GAME IN 2 TURNS POTENTIALLY cause everyone loses 60 energy round 1. So... can that be toned down at all or is that legit cause it can pretty much set everyone up to die in round 2

also, if a hero is eliminated, does that count as leaving the game towards souleater??

You know, I think if we were to keep it as is the only real option would be to immediately kill whoever carries that ability.

shouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuld probably change how it functions

It's actually a bit worse than that because we're probably going to start with not 6 but 8 'heroes' if people get Cloned Sidekick & Sidekick - I presume those two immediately take effect? Anyway if they do then on round 1 we start with 8 'heroes' and if we all managed to either bid to below 80 energy or took a little bit of damage we could all be unable to automatically spend 80 energy by the start of round 2 and would all immediately lose if I understand Cosmic Particles correctly.

Depending on resolution then I think that would mean everyone loses or if someone bid and got Souleater for really minimal energy and didn't take much damage in turn 1 and someone else died to cosmic particles before they did to heal them past 80 then they would win automatically.

Seems pretty balanced. Should I just reroll a new ability for this one for us to vote on, then?

If anyone has already bid on it then they will be able to discard it before playing as per the rules. As people might have already made bids I think it's a bit too late to change now.

And does losing a sidekick count as a hero being eliminated?

So we can bid up too all of our energy (100 energy points) on as many or as few abilities as we like however if a person wins they lose that ammoint when they start)

Bids are made in secret
