dis shitz gonna crash n burn...

It appears that we are lacking in player appeal. This needs to be remedied otherwise I suspect we must anticipate an ultimate failure to initiate. :P

That's one thing about forum games. Wait too long to start after making the thread and it'll lose momentum. It's also why I try to make my rounds short-ish (1 day a round etc) to keep it going.
Speaking of which I still need to wrap up mine :p

where is this smash bros magic happening I must own you guys

Skele, if you made a quick poke in the chat thread or even se section you'd probably have a few new visitors. 4 players is fine, but we can easily add 2 more if you use some discreet solicitation .

I've tried the SE chat and didn't get anyone, after my comment in General gets buried off the most recent page if we still haven't had any new people I'll start it anyway. I think one vote and two votes to veto is probably sufficiently balanced.

Four seems a bit small, but I suppose we can make it work. It will just be a faster game.

Well if you haven't already please send in your first power or ask any final questions. We're starting - I should be able to make a proper full post tomorrow.

So just as a summary here's a summary of the gameplan

You get one veto to use each round and all 4 of you must vote. When you've all finalised any power with 3 vetos on it is vetoed and lost, and if two powers both receive 2 vetoes each then they are also lost. Therefore 2 vetos, 1 veto, 1 veto & 0 vetos allocated to 4 powers respectively lets all of them through. If this doesn't work out well I might tweak it for round 2 and on. Then I update the profiles of each of you and update the spreadsheet as soon as I am able to - probably around 23:00 GMT but possibly not on the same day as I update everything if I'm too busy or tired.

By default each of you attack each other for 15 basic attack damage, you gain 15 attack damage for each veto'd power and you start the 'game' on 1000 health, 1001 health if you are voted most charactery-powers. The game we play happens entirely before you all go fight each other and all powers must be entirely deterministic and thus cannot rely on chance. If you want something to happen 1/2 times use modulus or just 'every second time'.

The first 3 rounds of power voting are anonymous and I will hide the player name of the person who submitted by default - (you can of course impersonate someone else or do a double bluff so please message me additionally if you want me to keep your reference to yourself in. I've PMd each of you that either missed or ignored this and basically assumed you all wanted to be annoymous. I will undo the hiding if and only if you obtain the power).

First there are 3 rounds of anonymous submissions, then 2 rounds of normal submissions like last game, and then the Instant Run Off vote on most character-y powers for a player, and then the final 6th round (because if I put it after round 6 no one would care because the game would already be decided).

I will always try to resolve powers like cards in Yu gi oh where effects triggering each other stack up in a list and then resolve in reverse order. There is also a single 'global' power placed by me that is part of the game and cannot be overridden (unlike all the other game elements).

The Arena is your canvas (but your canvas is a mere canvas, and it too can be hurt):

Players nominate powers before the battle starts and then fight to the death. In the event that two powers conflict such that neither can be said to over ride the other (most likely due to infinite recursion or no establishable first and second) both powers are cancelled for the round. If the powers will cancel each round and one power was posted on a different round number to the other, then the newer power is disabled and the old remains.

I'm applying no further restrictions on powers, they must simply not over ride The Arena is your canvas and be one power - by that I mean thematically connected as one whole thing. You might have multiple components to it, but it must read and seem like a single ability.

For example 'I gain 100 attack, negate 50 incoming damage each turn, heal for 10% of my damage dealt and I also dodge all attacks that are odd' sounds like 4 separate abilities, even though they are all battle related. a) this is boring b) it feels like multiple powers. Instead consider 'I have a battle suit that enhances my attacks and dodging capabilities, negating 50 incoming damage each turn and allowing me to dodge all odd damage attacks whilst also gaining 100 attack damage and healing for 10% of my damage dealt' a) this is literally the same power, but it doesn't sound as boring b) it feels like one 4 piece battle suit, I mean it's obviously multiple effects but it still has something of a oneness to it. It would of course be up to the other 3 players if they're going to let such a blatant power grab though, but that's my official stance on what is at least a legal submission. I also reserve the right to reject a power that would be insanely time consuming or hard to implement.

THE SPREADSHEET (Well, up to the first 13 rounds)

Pls be nice and reduce the turns needed to finish the game instead of increasing them

Oh and all attacks will be resolved simultaneously by default so if two people hit each other for lethal blows at the same time they both die. Thus with 0 powers in play and identical starts the game would be a tie.
