I think they should have a liscensing course, like drivers ed, so that you at least know how to shoot the damn gun, and you'd have to have a clean criminal record.

I think that guns and weapons should be illegal.
I mean, picture yourself as a criminal with a gun standing outside a house. A family lives there. A dad, mom, a son and daughter. Maybe three daughters, cuz the son likes it. You can see a tv and a computer and all sorts of expensive shit. Now you could break in, run for those people, shoot them and run to your car with as much stuff as you can carry and drive off.
This would be very bad. Yes it is. not for you, you're the criminal, but for the family and for the crime of the state/country.

Now picture yourself the same place and guy, but not holding a gun. Why? Because it is illegal. Now you think 'If those guys catch me, I'm screwed, I'm outnumbered and there lives a grown man there...'. You get in your car and drive.

A criminal is always going to get a gun if he wants it. See Britain for example, ever since they've been forced to cut their steaks with spoons their crime rate has grown exponentially.

Dunkwyk, that's why they DON'T give guns to "psycho's." They do a background check on all people who buy guns when they buy them, and sometimes check in every once in awhile to make sure they are using them properly.

But I seriously think that the problem itself, the really high crime rate in america is something they did to theirselves and the guns are just a little part of it. I mean, here in Europe, you never hear anything about a robbery or a killing. We have the highest crime rate though, Holland. But why? For stolen bikes. That's all they can do here...

You don't wear a gun to prevent bank robberies, you wear a gun to protect yourself from rape, being mugged, etc.

I know, but I was saying if it was allowed for everyone +18 to have a weapon. And the bad thing about most psychos is they don't go around shouting "I want to kill everyone" in the street...

Point is, whether or not guns are banned, someone will always have a gun somewhere, and whether or not there is a gun, you can still be killed with any other type of weapon. Such as a pencil.
When some guy comes running at me on PCP with a pencil, I'll have a pistol to shoot him in the kneecaps with.

But if guns are banned it'll be a lot harder for anyone to get a gun, so less people going around with a gun. And if the police finds you have a gun and they're banned you go to jail, but if you have a license they can't do anything.
As for the pencil, it takes lots of technique to kill someone with a pencil (at least I think so) and you have to get near that someone to kill him, so it gives the other person a big chance to defend himself.
But it would be funny if they only killed with pencils in CSI episodes: "I'm guessing it was a 5mm sharp Derwent. Color is definitely navy blue." Or: "Get a warrant to search that guys pencil case!" :P
