“Well that raises about ten more questions,” Annabelle shrugged. Hearing Bill’s question however, she turned to him. “Serif is the only person I know who’s trying to do something dangerous, I'd grant his. It’d probably involve getting his girl home safely, or if I could grant her wish, I could do that too. I’ve never met her, but she seems like a sweet kid from her journal.”

“I’d kinda cheat,” Iris confessed, “I'd find a widow or widower from the Oakland Ambush and undo the whole mess. I doubt Gale’s husband ever moved out.” Pausing, he added, “If I can't do that because it’d be my wish as well, I'd save it. There might be a case where it’d be deserved.”

David, having been zoning out in the private booth, didn't realize he'd missed the past like, three questions.

Must have dozed off...

Figuring he could leave the small room, he stood, readjusted his weapons and their straps, and strolled back out into the Main Lounge, his cloak billowing slightly. Noticing Cadell with a few others, the demi-god walked over, pulled up a chair and leaned over to him. He whispered "What was the question?"

Derrick whispered back "The question is if you could grant one wish but it could not be, what wish would you grant?"

He thought about it for a second then turned towards bill. It was actually a decent question. Really there were only a few people he personally knew who had really important wishes.

"I'd probably use it to rescue someone. Since I can't rescue anyone of my own choice, it would likely be the girl Serif is trying to save because as Annabelle said, Serif's putting himself in danger as well. And this way two people can be helped instead of just one."

Nightshade: "I'd let Magnolia live free."

Magnolia gives him a big hug. Nightshade simply sighs.

Magnolia: "I'd wish for whatever big bro wants! He's the bestest!"

Nora: "I don't know many who are still alive, and of them, fewer I'd care to grant wishes for. I don't see a need to answer."

Jeden nodded and walked over to the bar. "Hi can I get an apple cider, water, a coke, and something very strong."

"Anything more specific?" Nina asked as she got the other three ready on a platter.

"I'm sorry," Jeden flushed, "I don't know much about alcohol, and Derrick just said something that would get him drunk."

"Then I would recommend a Long Island Iced Tea." Abra interjected.

"I don't do mixed drinks," Nina said. "I'll get you some Jack Daniels Dinatra Select."

As she poured the drink Abra turned to Jeden. "Making friends?"

Jeden shrugged. "They're nice enough. Asked a lot of questions about you though. I think you scare them." He picked up the tray and carefully took the four drinks back to the couches.

Abra scratched his chin as he stared at Jeden's back, eventually turning around to grab his drink and take a sip. "Scared of me hm? I wonder why..." he giggled.

Jeden placed the platter down, slowly turning it until each drink was in front of its respective owner. Sitting back down he sipped his coke as he listened to Bill's question. "Only one wish? Would be wanting for the wellbeing of my kids count as one wish or four? Because their only sin was that they were dealt a bad hand by life, and I don't want that to define their future."

Abra's attention was focused on The White Stripes song. "They're gonna rip it off... Taking their time right behind my back..." He snapped back and shrugged at the question. "I rather not think about wishes, makes it sound like I can't accomplish it myself. If I want something to happen, I rather fight Heaven and Hell to make it happen rather then relying on something to do it for me."

Taking his drink, Cadell nodded in thanks to Jeden. Upon hearing Bill's question, he raised an eyebrow. "Oh man, this one's easy. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want this at some point... I'd grant the wish of universal happiness for everyone, forever. Boring, I suppose. But it's what I'd do, no contest."

Looking over towards David, Cadell waved. "Oh, hey! Welcome back man."

Meanwhile, Clemence stayed quiet, seemingly disappointed about something.

Nightshade chuckles.

Nightshade: "You'd even wish for the happiness of someone like me?"

Cadell turned towards Nightshade, seemingly astonished. "Why wouldn't I? You seem like a good guy at the core, ya know? You just need to care about goldfish and people a bit more, and you'll be good to go."

Nightshade: "And why should I care for them? Because you think I should?"

Cadell sighed. "No, because where you're going, you aren't going to make as many friends. Regardless, it doesn't matter. All of us are inherently selfish. Some just have more inclination to show it than others. In a way, we all deserve equal joy in our lives."

"Awh how sweet of you Cadell." Abra cooed. "I wonder where Clemence went wrong to become such a sourpuss." He jibed the spirit. "Though what if my happiness is derived from the unhappiness of others? After all you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Or how about the ex-parents of my two daughters? The mother found happiness in losing herself to the effects of powerful narcotics, but the girls needed a mother. Such two situations can't coexist. What would your solution be?"

Tanya glanced over towards that one kid when he wished the happiness of everyone. All she could do was just chuckle in between the lyrics of the now fading song. She downed the rest of her whisky and picked up the bottle, filling her glass with the remainder of the bottle. She proceeded to put the bottle back down on the counter and look at Nina.

"Let's up the ante. Smirnoff, please."

As she put her order, Abra began ranting, analyzing the statement of the kid, Cadell be his name. As the man continued to expose the flaws in his wish, Tanya's interest was captured. As soon as Abra was done, she chipped in the conversation.

"He's dealing with absolutes. I don't say I doubt his intents, or that it isn't a nice thing to say. Instead I'm pointing out that your answer lacks logic in every aspect of it. And for as much as you're trying to make people like you, it's simply not working, lad. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against you. But what you're saying is virtually impossible: people's happiness is relative to their ethics. I know people that experience pure ecstasy from butchering other living beings, for example. Couple of 'em are in this room. So quite frankly, you've made a fool of yourself."

As Tanya finished her monologue, Nina delivered her the bottle of Smirnoff she asked for and a glass on the side. Tanya simply nodded in gratitude. She began pouring the transparent liquid in the clean glass, filling it about halfway. Her ears picked up the next song on the playlist; odd choice, but it fancied Tanya's tastes. Son of a Preacher Man. She turned around, grabbing the glass of vodka as she turned and pointing it towards Cadell.

"Fancy a drink, lad?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"Now I wouldn't go so far as call what I do butchering. And he doesn't drink. I tried." Abra smiled then emptied his glass. He took the bottle of Smirnoff and refilled his tumbler. "But Tanya basically said what I just said without beating around the bush as much." He shrugged and began drinking.

Taking a deep breath, Cadell took a sip of apple cider before continuing. "Thanks, I already got one from Jeden over here. I haven't been in a good argument in a while, so please bear with me here, I might be a bit rude. Maybe you both forgot, but we're talking about wishes here. As for my solution, giving the illusion of something, evil or not, to a specific person in order to grant them happiness doesn't impose on anyone else directly. In fact, you could go as far as to say that changing peoples desires could be used to make a utopia of that sort."

Clemence poked his head up for a moment, beak glowing particularly red at the time.

Woah, chill man, I got this.

No, you certainly don't.

It's just two friends getting defensive, bro. Besides, they seem like smart people.

"What I'm trying to say, yo, is that this is in reference to the wish we would make, not what we would do in a realistic situation. Efficiently working to make the greatest amount of people happy is the realistic plan, in my case. Sure, that involves sacrifice of those too far 'out' to be saved, but hey, you can't have all the cookies in the darn jar."

Cadell tilted his head to the side. "So yeah, keep pulling the youngster card. I'm fine using that as an excuse to say something that might be new to you people."

Annabelle gave Dozer a small nod of thanks when she heard his answer.

"Ending world hunger or thirst wouldn't be bad though," Iris shrugged, grabbing his drink. After swirling the water for a moment, he took a small sip, "Assuming this isn't a monkey's paw situation, at least. Cannibalism would technically solve the first issue, or a mass death could solve the water one." Shrugging, he added, "And I suppose that there are those who need to drink blood to survive, so that lands us into a little gray area too." He chuckled, "Might have to waste a wish to know the consequence of the wishes."
