Yeah sorry everyone. We had an entrant who submitted the wrong file which caused the unexpected delay, as well as some coordination issues getting the scoring in on time. This is exactly why we're taking a break to restructure completely onto the new site. Running the competitions informally through the forum has caused an organizational nightmare for me and it's clearly not working for anyone's benefit. So the new site has the following system for competitions coming up:
- Dedicated section to browse current and past competitions in their entirety
- Automated system for joining and submitting to a competition, no more PMs!
- Notifications for every step of the competition directly to your notification box
- Automated system for judges to be alerted when entries are submitted; scoring system so there is no room for error or coordination problems
- Competition Management tools for people joining and people running competitions (we are likely going to have competitions that are run by other users)
- Integration with profiles so others can see the competition you're in as well as badges for participation or if you were a judge
- Integration with the portal so your submission will be published by us automatically
- Judges Picks is another subsystem that will let our judges choose which entries will be highlighted on the new front page
I know this doesn't excuse the issues we've had keeping house, but hopefully this will make it so much easier on everyone when we return. Then there's less stress all around! :D
Results are going to be posted by tonight at the latest once verified. Then the next time we do this it will be with a shiny new coat of paint :)
