Lavernius Mylarc & Thalia Valgeiros, the Market of Six
The man at the register accepted the application, reminding them as well to be back by noon for the start of the tournament.
As they finished up, Lavernius lead the duo to the Market of Six, looking specifically for food stalls. They passed several from Baelthum and another several from Lorcas. It was any man's choice of flavor. There were a lot of people around as well but there were some hours still before the competition too.
Stalls from the izukani showed their love for fish, their meat raw wrapped in some seaweed and vegetables. Baelthum with smaller versions of their larger dishes, roasted chicken and beef, spiced wonderfully. Narbondel with its vast array of meats, seasoned little but very much savory despite it. Vadalian cuisine was a lot more prominent due to the availability of their ingredients, their food grilled with the wood, adding the trademark smoky flavor of their food.
Faye Petralis, the Dancing Horseman | Second Floor
Milanee entered and curtsied. She held both her hands in front of her, one over the other.
"We have not, Miss Faye," the server maid replied. "All we did was tend to his wounds. Is there anything wrong?"

Thalia's mouth was watering at th sight and smell of the food. There were more options than she had imagined, and they all beat living off of that dank tavern's food. Baelthum and Vadalian cuisine were always good, but perhaps she would be more adventurous and try some of the Izukani's seafood. She dragged Lavernius with her down the line, scouting out all of her potential options before settling with Narbondel. It was new to her, but everything looked so juicy and plump and full of flavor. Her grip on Lavernius' hand tightened as she drug him to the front counter and looked the menu over. A quick glance at Lavernius, almost as if requesting approval. After a nod, she told the man at the counter, "I'll have your most popular dish."

"You could say that, yes...There are injections on his wrists and neck that I haven't noticed before." Faye murmured. "I take it that no one else has entered this room while I was absent?" With Atlas outside, the doors were the only way inside the room. The construct wouldn't let anyone scale the building.
Faye quickly healed the tiny wounds; all but one on one of the wrists. Just in case she was to show it to someone. "Keep an eye on him and...here, give this back to Miss Astapor, should she come back. If I'm not back by then and she was to ask questions tell her I went to...'investigate'." The girl pulled out the key to Illaya's room and gave it to Milanee, after which she left the room, and then the Horseman. She doubted Illaya would care, nor Faye herself wanted to drag her into all this, but hey. You never know. It never hurt to let others know where you are. As always, she left a gem on the nightstand. It rested next to a barely touched bowl of soup.
"That is so strange..." On her way to the crime scene, the Thaa'nas tried to put the facts together. Sorting what she knew so far. Two Thaa'nas potentially designated to work on a criminal case were attacked during the night. 'Someone' - That is Faye - alarmed by the loud sound of breaking wood, investigated and has found them in the dark alley in moderately populated area. One of them was dead, the other - which she knew - was found dying. First question; Was that in fact the place where the attack happened, or were they just disposed there? If yes, why, and what could happen prior, in between. The injections? There was no way someone made such precise work in the time between the sound, and her arrival at the scene...Well, unless there was a way. But that just raised even more questions, so the girl stick with version where they had to appear before. Bah, for all she knew these may not even be connected to the whole case, but were suspicious nonetheless.
Anwyay, the Thaa'nas are found, there's no assailant in sight, but should still be in vicinity, alarmed moments later by Faye's yelling for help. Simple bump in the night is out of question. These are fully fledged Thaa'nas, more than capable of defending themselves. They also had their money still with them. Assassination attempt is almost out of question. The girl manages to initially stabilize the man with four stab wounds in his torso area - and apparently few more, tiny stabs she hasn't noticed - and escapes with him to safety without much resistance, even though the assailant is believed to have returned, watching them from the rooftops. Only lax attempt to stop them was a knife, thrown way off to the side, as if like a warning shot. Without any more trouble, the Thaa'nas get to their destination, man's condition is stabilized and wounds healed, but he doesn't wake up, perhaps because of blood loss - Understandable. No further attempts from the assailants were made... All this still made no damned sense... All Faye got out of this reverie was a tiny anxious thought, that there's too much coincidence included in this event.
When she finally made it to the alley, the girl began to investigate. It was still early in the morning, so not much should've changed, nor there were many people that would spot - or rather pay attention to her. She tried to find anything that felt off, anything that would bring her closer to knowledge of what could've happened. Maybe there was someone there, already working on the case she could ask. She didn't have her uniform, but there was a royal blue bandana still in her pocket.

Lavernius guided her through the bazaar and looked at all the food stalls. The smell of meat was very appetizing but as they passed the Izukani stalls he grew nostalgic and looked at the sushi. He missed the taste of good sashimi and contemplated getting some but Illaya's stomach soon took hold and she quickly dragged him away to stalls selling food from Narbondel. She quickly placed her order and Lavernius chipped in. "Also some water as well." He fished out the needed coins and paid for the meal.
Their most popular dish was a sampler plate, it offered a little bit of everything, different meats skewered on kebabs, all with their own special blend of spices. He picked up the plate and gave the shopkeep a nod of gratitude before offering the plate to Illaya, "Here, be sure to eat slowly." He picked up the flagon. "I'll hold onto the water, just tell me when you're thirsty." The artist looked for a place to sit so that she could eat comfortably and led her to an empty table.

Mari stood up from her bed, ignoring her ruffled hair and her overall sleepiness. She awkwardly stood up from her bed and dragged her feet towards the door. The woman paused for a moment in front of the wooden barrier separating herself from the corridor, before roughly kicking the door open and slipping downstairs. In a moment she made her way to the counter and plopped onto a stool.
"A coffee please."

"Sure," Joyse nodded, a bit happier than usual as she grabbed a nearby mug and premade coffee. "I suppose you didn't notice, but your armed guard has left." The innkeeper set the mug down and poured the hot beverage into it carefully.
Faye Petralis, the Dancing Horseman | Second Floor --> Scene of the Crime
"No one, miss," Milanee answered when asked if any other person had entered her quarters the night before. "Only myself and Esther had been coming to this room the entire night."
The server maid accepted the item Faye gave her and nodded. "Of course, Miss Faye." And the Thaa'nas took off.
Faye left the vicinity of the Dancing Horseman and out to the alley where she found Ravhin and the Shield Thaa'nas. People around her didn't pay her much heed, busy with the festival and the tournaments being held at the moment.
When Faye reached the scene of the crime, she found that it wasn't cleaned to a marvelous extent but most of the blood was gone and the debris of the struggle was cleared. It was very apparent the Legion didn't want any disturbances during the festivals1. The Staff looked around the scene and found nothing but marks of a struggle, scratches of the wooden crates on the walls as if thrown and a marks of blood on the floor that missed cleaning2. A faded white trail scratched the surface of the wall face as well, seems as though the attacker missed one of his strikes but if he missed that would have been more than enough time for the Thaa'nas to at the very least blast the attacker away.
Something was odd.
FOOTNOTES
1Likely due to the fact that while the Festival occurs, Faye remembered it was also the summer solstice, which meant Emperor Peleus would be dual tasking this day: handling the festival and the convergence of the High Seats from every Realm.
2 The blood splatter seemed outward from the scene, suggesting it was a slashing attack.

Mari looked up and around her, stuck between the state of wake and sleep. Her right hand instinctively reached for the cup in front of her, bringing it to her mouth and allowing her to take a sip. It took the woman a couple of moments to process the words of the maid. The leading Fang looked up, her sight crossing Joyse's.
"I see. Did the guard leave any items behind? Two daggers for example, decorated with a yellow and a green ribbon." she asked concerned.

"So there was a fight...They haven't been taken by complete surprise then. But in that case..." Done with inspecting the area, Faye swooped her surroundings once more, looking for any traces of magic used. "...Why haven't they defended themselves..." The Thaa'nas remembered that Ravhin in fact fared well in his trial against her...she only crushed his arm in the process, but that was an accident. She didn't know anything about the other man's capabilities, but the fact he was a Shield probably meant something. "Maybe they didn't want to. Or couldn't. But why? And why I didn't hear anything?" The girl frowned turning around few times, looking up and down trying to catch anything else, before departing. So many 'whys' and 'hows' but not a single 'because' yet.
Faye's next destination was Legionnaires' post. She'd search for someone responsible for the clean up and the case itself, in order to hopefully exchange some information. She also wanted to see the other man's body. Maybe he held the missing piece of this puzzle. Should she have any problems to get through, the Thaa'nas would introduce herself and her title, as well as prove with her information that she wasn't just a curious bystander.

"Hmm," Joyse hummed thougtfully, placing her hands on the counter as she looked to the ceiling. "No, they didn't say anything about daggers. If its about anything confiscated though, you should be able to get them again from the Legionnaire's HQ. Its found in near the residential area not too far from here." She pointed in the general direction where it should be, though it her finger was pointed at a wall.
The bar was near empty, save for a few of the server maids hustling about cleaning and serving the few customers indoors. "Breakfast? You look like you could use some meat on you."
Faye Petralis, Residential Area | Glorious Legion Outpost
Faye walked out of the alleyway and into the streets once more, her intentions and objective clear in her head. Whoever wanted Ravhin and the Shield dead failed, she knew they had at least fought back but probably failed to use the haeras to defend themselves. Odd wounds on the wrist and neck, several stab wounds on the torso, it was a brutal attack that left one dead and the other dying. The Thaa'nas walked on, the thoughts lingering in her head.
Within several minutes, she arrived at the entrance of what looked to be the Glorious Legion's headquarters. It was a fairly large building, probably loaned by the High seat of the city for now since she knew the legion had little presence here. The building itself was plain save for two banners that hung on the front with the black and gold colors of the legion. Two guards stood at the double doors and even when Faye showed her the bandana, they didn't allow her in which only confused her more. The doors swung open and a familiar face from last night appeared from the entrance, looking exhausted and lacking sleep, came out.
"The Thaa'nas from last night," Trivana muttered. "What brings you here?"

"Listen, I don't think you...Oh, well you look awful...-y tired..." Faye was just about to start arguing with the guards, but relented once a familiar legionnaire appeared. "You probably know why I'm here. I don't want to sit idly, waiting for something else bad to happen." The Thaa'nas turned away from the guards and smiled to Trivana. "While I don't doubt someone from Legion or Shields is working on the case already, I've been looking around as well, finding some...troubling stuff." The girl's face darkened a little, at the thought of all dead ends she came across. "Basically I wish to talk to someone who took care of cleaning up this mess, give my testimony as a witness, and want to exchange some information. By helping you, I'll help myself...And vice versa, I'd risk to say." Faye smiled sheepishly, and looked past Legionnaire's shoulder as if to indicate she'd like to come in. "Also..." Her eyes locked with Trivana's again. "I know this is completely out of the blue right now, but have you autopsied that deceased Shield yet? Have you found anything...weird?" She stared for a moment before her face softened in mild concern, as she realized she's just been bombarding that poor, exhausted woman with words. "I'm sorry, I uh...Just point me at whoever else I should bother with all this. You look like you could really use some rest."

Mari slowly began regaining counsciousness as the hot bean mix began making its effect. When the maid mentioned breakfast, she simply nodded in her direction. Some food right now wouldn't have been a bad idea at all. She then turned her head around, letting out a heavy sigh. Her eyes glanced over the empty inn, looking for anything that resembled a Fang associate. This lack of control feeling was bothering her more than it should have. After all, Mari was made that way.

Her food came within several minutes, warm and fragrant. It pulled her from her silent thoughts to eat and recuperate. Joyse simply smiled, content that she found a customer eating without complaint. A few more people came in which Mari looked to find they were not a Fang member. In the pit of her thoughts, she knew this was the day she would meet up with the businessman named Erenzo.
What that would show her would be up in the air and hopefully, be grounded enough for her to take control again in the future.
Faye Petralis, the Glorious Legion Outpost | Near Residential Area
Trivana blinked and chuckled. "The cleanup crew would be inside, I'll help you get to them."
The legionnaire nodded to the other guards and allowed them both passage into the structure. As Faye entered, the Thaa'nas found the building quite devoid of most decor, plain and organized, its walls painted nothing more than a bland gray the only discerning features inside that would differentiate it from abandoned buildings is the few banners of the legion, armor and weapons stored in key places and the hundreds of legionnaires stationed here. Trivana lead her through to the second floor, guiding her through guards and officers. Their conversation continued as they walked on.
"Hmm, we have," the legionnaire replied with the concern of autopsying the Shield. "I don't have the authority to tell you anything nor was I told the information, I'm sorry, but it would be possible if you would talk to the legion Wands that handled that operation."
When they reached the door of the infirmary, Trivana nodded to Faye. "I'm not tired," she muttered. "Just real stressed out. You know whats happening here right? The Emperor and the other Realm Lords are coming here. We can't have this kind of... disturbances out there. It would be nice to have another pair of eyes out there, yeah?"
Trivana opened the door and lead the Staff to the desk. Faye found herself in the company of three Wand Thaa'nas alongside nurses. Their distinct blue emblazoned on their garb alongside Legion gold and black.
"..And who is this, Legionnaire Trivana?" One of the Wands called from behind. "Civilians aren't supposed to be here."
Faye looked behind to see a woman who seemed to be in her thirties with wild gray hair and piercing blue eyes. She was tending a legionnaire who was sitting down, only gazing up to look at Faye as well.
"She's the witness to the crime scene," Trivana reported. "She is no civilian, Miss Cyarin. She is Thaa'nas."
Cyarin squinted her eyes at Faye, examining her from head to toe. "Your proof of this?"
"I saw her perform a healing spell and project a Maat based barrier," Trivana replied. Faye looked to the sides and found the other Wands were busy and didn't react to her entry at all.
"She could be a Sorcerer," Cyarin snapped. The Wand tapped on her patient and smiled warmly, murmuring something before she approached Faye. "Are you a Thaa'nas? Seems as if Trivana doesn't even know your name. Tell me."

Faye just let out a sigh, before reaching to her pocket for a bandana and without a slightest sign of hesitation tied it around the base of her ponytail. Doubted again, not even surprising anymore. She raised her head to meet the piercing gaze of the Wand. "My name is Faye Petralis, the Thaa'nas of Staff. Since I believe I've been spotted at the crime scene, I'm missing my insignias to avoid further 'attention'." The girl explained almost with pride, without cutting eye contact and then bluntly added with a shrug. "I'm also on vacation." Despite being judged, Faye smiled to the woman and then continued. "Now, should you need further proof, I can provide, but I think there's matter more important than my lack of appropriate clothing."

Under Cyarin's gaze, Faye could feel it inspect her. Stepping back, the Wand raised an eyebrow at the bandana. "A Staff?" The woman shifted her attention to Trivana. "You told me of the other wounded, Ravhin of the Staff, yes?"
"Yes, Thaa'nas."
Cyrarin looked at Faye with suspicion but it felt less than before, if that was possible. "I guess you do have some merit of being here. The other being part of your sect." The Wand proceeded back to her position by her patient.
"If you would kindly take a seat, Faye of the Staff," Cyarin gestured to the chairs that were placed by the doorway in a neat line. "I'd like you to wait for a moment. As you can see, I am currently with a patient. I will be with you shortly. And you Trivana, didn't I tell you earlier to get rest? You'll kill yourself from fatigue you woolheaded woman. Begone with you."
Trivana bowed slightly before leaving. She gave Faye a weak smile before she closed the doors behind her.
Time Skip to Noon
The noonday sun rose into the sky, bearing down its heat on all of Salvation Point. Despite the increasing temperatures, the city was lively. At the outskirts of the city, fanfare rise to call attention and some of the men and women began to go to its source, leaving the Plaza a bit bare yet still crowded.
Murmurs say that a carriage from the Younghaven Palace as well as from the Valerias Mansion had exited their respective homes and went in the direction of the fanfare earlier that day.
Lavernius Mylarc & Thalia Valgeiros, the Plaza of the Monolith
Lavernius and Thalia had just arrived from the lunches in the Market and approached the center of the Plaza. The stage had been set up, along with the seats that would accomodate the audience. There were separations to it, the inner circle of the plaza had been sectioned off with twenty seats by the stage and four more with a desk just at its front. The outer circle had been filled with three groups of seats and an aisle separating them. The people were suprisingly lower in count than before but the contestants, twenty in total, including the retired assassin, were present. The men in the registry smiled when they saw Thalia.
"Ah, you were the girl from earlier, yes?" He said. "Right on time, Mrs. Mylarc. If you would please take your seat in the inner ring. Mr. Mylarc will be staying at the outer ring, he may stay at the front row."

The crime boss of the Twin Fangs found herself finished with her meal but still at the stool. Not much was occuring in the inn. People were coming and going and none were of her group. Not even Erenzo or his assistant made an appearance and even the Legion has left her to be.
Faye Petralis, the Glorious Legion OutPost | Infirmary
Faye waited for her turn. It was quite a bit, though for a Wand, it may have just felt like a swift minute has passed per patient when it actuality it had taken her five or ten. The Staff found herself waiting for a lot longer than 'shortly'.
Cyarin escorted the last of the legionnaires out the door, leaving the nurses, the two other Wands and Faye in the infirmary. The Wand whom Faye assumes would have been the lead approached her.
"I have time for you now, Faye," Cyarin said. "Recite the Oath."
Faye did so without flinching. Without another word, Cyarin nodded.
"I guess you're here for the information on the dead Shield?" The Wand beckoned Faye to follow her, leading the Staff towards another part of the room. Faye and Cyarin then entered a room with a single table at its very center. Tools of different sorts hung on the walls and tables around them. At the table was presumably the body of the Shield, covered by a white sheet dotted with dried blood.
"His name was Dreifreed Hummus," Cyarin explained. "Three wounds at the front suggests frontal assault, as if his attacker got ahold of his shoulder and proceeded to disembowel the man."
The Wand approached the table and flipped the sheet to reveal the man's wrists. "It can't be seen from afar but there are small penetrations into his writs. Similar anomalies present themselves in Dreifreed's neck."
Cyarin looked at Faye who also seemed puzzled. "We assume it to be a sort of precision strike. What it was actually intended to strike at is unsure."
Marianna Laranis, the Dancing Horseman | First Floor

Lavernius' cheeks reddened as he flushed. "Wait, Mrs.? Oh no she's not- we're not..." The artist paused as something suddenly bugged him, Wait... how does he know my last name? He turned to look at Illaya but couldn't find a way to phrase it without sounding rude, accusing her of doing it. "Well.. I guess we're married now?" He ended sheepishly. He didn't want to make a scene, he could only hope he could bring this up later between the two of them and they could draw a line and stop... whatever was happening before something they can't stop happens.
