Because I think you've both done fantastically, and I can't find fault with either piece enough to differentiate, I think I'm going to point out a few small points in each piece, and then just say congratulations! I had to abstain from the voting, because I couldn't make up my mind. :D

In summary, I can't give either of you my vote. I'll just abstain and drop my comments here.

I hope this helps!

Don't have time for a long in-depth CnC where I'm at currently so I'll keep it short;

First off, I appreciate the brevity of both stories. Neither really overstayed their welcome so I could finish them both in what little time I have access to the web here in Canada.

That being said my vote goes to Strongest,

Aquila's piece was bogged down by the larger part of the first half being absolutely irrelevant to the plot and doing nothing to retain interest. It does little more than waste the reader's time, it's the description of trivial day to day life with no conflict whatsoever and should've been cut out entirely in a rewrite. The second part of the first half felt too much like a gore fetish for me to enjoy. The second half, the actual fight, is pretty much where the story starts in my eyes, and I still find it lackluster since both characters feel like cookie cutter versions of themselves; While Abra is an eccentric character, it still feels like he's trying too hard to be fancy. As for Kaiban, he seems to express no more depth than "I'm scared and want to run away" for the entirety of the story.

On a literary level, the piece is quite alright. The language is certainly there, there's just no story to back it up.

As for Strongest's piece, I am glad it did not dwell on its prologue quite as long, and even though Abra's depiction still comes a bit short, it's closer to what I'd imagine him like and Kaiban actually shows more depth as a character. That being said, I feel as if the story is largely just the depiction of a battle between these two individuals and nothing else, it doesn't feel like your piece is trying to tell any more than just that, has any more depth to it than 'It's Kaiban vs Abra'.

So yes, Strongest gets my vote for these reasons. Still, while it may seem I'm just ripping on both pieces here, do consider that both pieces did manage to retain my interest sufficiently for me to read them all the way to the end where I usually don't even bother to read the brunt of wRHG battles posted here (granted, I have little else to do here in Canada away from my PC). In both cases, the language certainly carried the tellings, even if the telling itself was a bit meagre.

I am kind of wondering, TheStrongest, if Walden's murderer is Bl.An.C.. From what I recall from the last time we met on the wRHG battlefield, I exploded both of us in the RP style battle. Just curious if you're using that timeline or if you didn't.

Anyway, Imma abstain from voting for now. I'll take a reread later then vote. Let the story settle in my brain. Until then, good job guys.
