So if you’re familiar with my little g
roup things, you know I like wRHG shuffle events. In the spirit of Halloween, I figured we could have some monster madness, where we all create a monster for someone
else to deal with. You’ll design a monster with a personality/instincts/whatever you want to call it as well as where it’ll be found. Woods, urban wasteland, under the bed, in the closet, doesn’t matter, but there, the other person will have to deal with them.
Part 1:
So, as mentioned, you’ll be in
charge of creating a monster. It can look like anything you want, it can behave anyway you want, and it can do anything you want, provided it doesn’t mean a guaranteed death to whoever gets it. It can be intelligent and able to speak or a mindless monster, either sarcastic or spooky are both acceptable. What I will be needing are it’s whereabouts, physical traits, appearance, mannerisms/personality, if it has any abilities, and if there are any rumors about them, as well as if those rumors are fact or fiction.
Part 2:
Your character, gladiator unless you’d prefer someone else, will encounter the monster. You can kill the monster, befriend the monster, run from the monster or hunt the monster or anything in between. It’s up to you to decide how your character is going to deal with what’s in front of them.
Appearance: (The less human it looks, t
he more details I’ll need)
Skills: (Anything spanning traits like claws to magic like breathing fire)
Personality/Instincts: (If your monster is intelligent enough to speak I’ll need it’s personality, or it it’s more animalistic, I’ll need the instincts.)
Whereabouts: (The vague location of where your monster will be found)
About: (Rumors, what it eats, if it’s dangerous. For rumors though, please mark what is/isn’t true)
Sign ups: End 9/25
Monsters due: 10/13
Encounters due: 10/29
You mentioned wRHG, do I have to use my gladiator?
No, if you have someone you’d rather use, you can by all means, I’ll just need a link for their profile.
My gladiator is a monster. Can I use them?
You can use them either as the monster, who’s dealing with them, or both. If you’re interested in making it a collab, that’ll have to be run by whoever gets your fighter.
Ritual summoning?
As long as it doesn't have to be the person who summons it
Can I have the monster be two separate entities? Like for example two brothers that are the collective "monster".
Multiple entities are fine
Appearance: As the name suggests Bloby
is a blob(mind blown). He doesn't have permanent size but when he just walks around, he is about 2m tall and 1m wide. When not in combat Bloby will walk around with a dark brown-ish or grey colour. Bloby can change his colour to almost anything but it will be a single colour with slight variations.
Skills: Bloby can rapidly change his shape and colour. He can also make his body(or parts of it) solid. He can also increase the temperature of his blobiness and usually wants to change the colour too so it seems like he is lava.
Personality: Although Bloby doesn't really interact with humans or other creatures he is intelligent himself, to the point where he can make townfolk to give him offerings to eat.
Whereabouts: Bloby likes hanging out in marshy and moist places but, although chances are low, you can also find him in forests up in the mountains.
Rumors: Bloby doesn't want to cause harm just for the fun of it and is too lazy to hunt for food, so usually he scares people at small rural towns to offer him food as diety or something. This has been embraced by villagers and now they talk about the God of the Liquids.
Extra: Bloby hangs out in places with loads of water in order to easily replenish himselfs and becausse water calms him. The water though then gets infected and is undrinkable.
Appearance: A small worm-like creature
with small sharp legs. It has no distinguishable eyes that one may see but when its head turns toward you, you would still feel it’s looking at you. They come in multiple faded grey colours. Its mouth is circular with multiple sharp razor teeth. It has a tail that glows a gooey green colour when trying to insert itself into a human’s orifice.
Once in a human, the person’s eyes will change to black and wouldn’t really seem to be focusing on anything specific and would just seem vacant. The person’s body movement will be almost supernatural with twitches and erratic behavior.
If one of the Symbiotes are killed, they would ooze green blood and gradually melt into a puddle.
Skills: The Symbiotes is an infective alien parasite that inhabits humans. Once one is within a person, after a few hours it will have laid eggs within the person and the babies will escape to find their own hosts. Thus the infection spreads throughout the population. If someone was to challenge the parasite, it will use the host as a meat shield in order to escape. Self-preservation is of paramount importance. Especially since they are a hive-minded as well! So if the last of them are killed then they would all be dead.
Inside a human’s body it practically takes over the mind of the host, basically taking complete control of all motor functions. This includes the use of firearms and other weapons, however they are not so proficient in using them. If one was to extract the Symbiote from a body one will find the person to be in a vegetated state.
On their own the Symbiotes are rather slow moving and usually prefer taking over their hosts at night when they are sleeping.
Personality/Instincts: I briefly touched upon this but basically their instinct is to spread the parasite and that is it. Each individual Symbiote has a strong need for self-preservation and thus even though they may be hostile if one tries to end their life, there will always at least be a couple of Symbiotes trying to escape if things go badly.
In their original form they wouldn’t be able to speak and merely sound like something spitting the whole time. If they were in a human they would attempt communication through the person but it would just be an unintelligible mess of splutters and murmurs.
Whereabouts: In a small village in the middle of nowhere. One rock fell from the heavens and nobody noticed. The first Symbiote entered the head of a small girl. While everyone slept the offspring spread from home to home. By dawn almost everyone was infected. There were only three people unaffected by the infestation. One was the town drunk who fell asleep away from the village, the second was a hunter living in a cabin outside and the last was a woman who came to the village that next morning to visit her family. The hunter decided to remain to fight off the parasite, the drunkard went insane in the next town over mumbling about it. The woman refuses to give up on her family and tries to find a non-violent way to rid them of the Symbiote.
About: Things the survivors will tell you:
The Drunkard: 1. They are beginning of the apocalypse. (False) 2. They are demons from hell. (False) 3. They consume your brains (Half True) 4. They turn people into zombies (Not really true).

Appearance: While the rumors say some ridiculous things about this creature, even going so far as to claim that he's the Devil himself, The Shadow's actual form is quite surprising. It appears to be humanoid in shape, standing about six feet tall, but has no distinctly human characteristics besides his humanoid form. It is, however, masculine in shape. His body is completely black, no matter what angle you view it from, and his eyes, when you do see them, are tiny, blood red spotlights on his otherwise featureless face.
Skills: As his name suggests, The Shadow is extremely oriented in all things related to the dark. As long as he is within an area somewhat lacking in the light department, he can do a variety of things with the shadows already present. Tendrils, weapons, camouflage, shape shifting, booby-traps, you probably get the idea by now. As well as this, the Shadow is completely untouchable when in the shade, only becoming vulnerable when exposed to the light. His attacks however, are not, only his physical body. His attacks can be countered and defended against.
Personality/Instincts: The Shadow's nature isn't entirely understood, only explained through a few lucky eyewitness accounts who managed to escape their pursuer. These people described the creature as relentless, ruthless, and most of all, vicious. The Shadow showed no signs of stopping it's pursuit of its victim until they had made it back into an area with artificially produced or natural light. Animalistic describes it pretty well. One unfortunate soul remembers when he and an accomplice of his were chased. The victim was only able to escape because his companion got caught and dragged back into the dark, followed by the sounds of bones breaking and flesh tearing.
Whereabouts: Any dark place, but usually a forest.
About: The Shadow is extremely dangerous, through and through. While not hostile every second of every day, it will attack whatever comes into its vicinity if it stays there for too long. Rumors have arisen around the Shadow, usually from terrified survivors, and while they are written off as hysterical, most of them are surprisingly true. About how the creature can attack from anywhere in the dark, is completely untouchable,
and never stops chasing.
Appearance: It is a gigantic spider- l
ike creature at the very least and a mechanical monstrosity at the most. This creature is about thirty feet tall when sitting on the ground and about 40 when up on its legs and looks like a horse barn stuck to a grain silo and half of a yellow school bus stuck to the front of the horse barn. Telephone poles stick out of the barns eight windows, four on each side, and at the end of the telephone pole is rubber that connects it to a second telephone pole. The front end of the bus opens up to reveal a maw full of razor sharp teeth and on each of the windows on the bus is a large black dot that can move around to look at anything around the spider. Also there is a later that goes up the side of the grain silo. The barn is painted red with black strips along its side. The silo is rusty in places and was originally painted a dull gray but most of it is peeling off showing dull aluminum underneath. On the roof of the barn there are two hatches on either side that mostly stay closed but can open up to reveal large silk like hands and arms.
Skills: This creature is highly mobile despite its size and can drop off the grain silo so that it can move even faster. It can move at about 20 mph with the silo attached and about 40 mph without the silo on.
It can spit out large silk strands from its mouth that not only are sticky but are also stronger than steel. It can also spit out balls of silk to trap opponents or create large webs. When it drops off the grain silo it can shot out silk from the back of the barn as well.
It can see in 270 degrees but has a large blind spot behind itself.
Its legs are sticky so that it can climb walls
.
It has immense strength and can smash through buildings like they are building blocks.
It has a high pitched screech that sounds like metal twisting and turning and being pulled apart. This screech can paralyze most people for about five seconds.
The silk like arms can be used to reach out to grab a person or throw objects at its targets. The arms are extremely flexible.
When its silo is full, of either water or oil, it can time travel either to its own time or to present time to try and stop what happened from happening.
Can spit an acid that can melt rock or metal but cannot harm anything organic.
Personality/Instincts: The spider is intelligent enough to speak but nobody can understand what it says because it can only speak in high pitched screeches. So it will try to communicate through hand gestures. In battle it will rely on its instincts to help it find its opponent. It has good hearing great eye sight. And also can stop moving in moment’s notice to figure out where its prey is. If it is losing a battle it will lose its corn silo so it can run away and create a trap for its prey.
Whereabouts: usually found in areas where there are large amounts of rain and also where oil is readily available. Usually it will be found near an abandoned oil refinery or even near a lake because it can use either water or oil to power itself. It may even be found near a scrapyard because it eat metal and turn it into oil for its own body.
Rumors: It actively hunt’s humans to wipe them out. (false) It seems to be trying to communicate with people. (true) It is mostly active at night. (half true) It came from the future. (true) It craves oil. (no true) It was the creation of a mad scientist. (false) The Chinese created it. (false it was nuclear radiation) It can change its size. (false)
Appearance: Its name is the Skull Walk
er. It walks on four legs that are made entirely out of the skulls of the victims it has killed. Each leg is covered in hundreds of skulls and an eerie green light can be see shining from each skull as it walks about and the legs are about ten feet long each. Above its bony legs can be located a mass of dark green writhing tentacles that covers its torso and it has two massive black serpentine arms that end in large maws that are filled to the brim with teeth. Each of the serpentine limbs are about twenty feet long and the mouths are constantly drooling. On top of its torso is a maroon colored gigantic beak that sticks straight up. The beak is wicked sharp and about three feet long. On each side of the beak is a single gigantic grey eye that stares into nothing but when it sees you the eye comes alive and locks onto your l
