So I turn on my computer as usual, and it boots up fine (slower then usual, though). I log on,seems to be fine, and I'm just about to do stuff when this comes up, white on a blue background.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Sae Mode.

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF757F95C, 0x00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

I tried again a few times and same story.

I'm in safe mode now, which works fine, and I'm posting this from my pocket pc.

What the **** do I do now?

Can anyone find any info for me? I would ask on a tech forum but finding one and registering and shit is too difficult on this ppc

Sounds like a virus, but that's all I can guess. Do you indeed have adequate disk space?

Maybe try these:

Yeah, I saw those articles, but none of them are the same as the error message I'm getting.

I managed to connect to the internet in safe mode, so I posted a thread here

Hey, no way. I get the exact same thing on this here laptop. I thought I was the only one.

It's funny, it doesn't actually seem to do anything. Once it force-restarts it works fine (the most its happened is twice in a row, only done that once). As far as I know, it doesn't do anything except make you have to restart.

Try turning it on again.

Give your computer a break or buy it a new RAM chip or something, maybe clear some old documents or unused programs. It helps me when i do that.

My computer's already on the verge of dying, I'm just trying to hold on to it until we buy a new one.

Keeping the terabyte of storage of course.

I've had a message like this before. Put your windows CD in and boot from it, then either do the option that "fixes" everything (can't remember the name), which is what I did, or do a fresh OS install. Either that or do a system restore from safe mode.

My only suggestion is to do this. Of course, back up your important stuff before hand, just in case.
