"Far Cry 2 uses SecuROM

Some of you definitely know that
Far Cry 2
will use (What is
SecuROM?) and are sceptical about the future of
Far Cry 2
.
The copy protection
SecuROM will allow according to
VideoGamer only 5 installations (activations) but these can be revoked by deinstalling the game so that you can activate it again and again.

UbisoftEvery time you revoke the activation you can install the game on a different machine. So yes, you could uninstall/revoke on three then put it on three completely different machines,
Honest buyers can confidently recline and explore and enjoy the game in a few days!

UbisoftYou need to be online only for a fresh install. An internet connection is also required to revoke the license when uninstalling the game. A high speed connection is not required"

View Profile I don't really even see how this deters it. I would think much more people just pirate it than all of that disc trading business.

View Profile Stupid people who pirate shit are the reason things like this and the new IP act get put into action.
Stop pirating everything and stimulate our dead economy you idiots.

View Profile Dear lord, we can only install it on 5 different computers?! Never mind the fact that if you uninstall it, you add on one more to your count. This is obviously the big corporations trying to bring us down. Everyone should go out and do their part by stealing lol!

View Profile Strung has a point. 5 installs is huge, and if you uninstall it adds an installation that you can use. I see no problem with this method of security.

View Profile That's not the point you numbskulls, the point is that they are putting a program on your computer that monitors your PC, and is unremovable. I'll be fine if they actually say it on the box, but with Spore, they didn't.
And I don't pirate good games made after 2001, except to see if I can actually run them on my computer before buying them, or if I have some emotionally charged reason to do so.
I don't plan on buying OR pirating Far Cry 2, and if they don't say that SecuRom will be installed on the OUTSIDE OF THE BOX, then I will still be just as pissed.
SecuRom is malware, and I don't stand for any company installing malware on someones computer for ANY reason without doing a good job of informing the customer first.

...pretty unrelated to the topic.
Is securom completely unremovable, even after uninstalling any games it came with?

View Profile The reason I'm ****ing pissed is because I love this game more than any other and I want to buy it so I can have it by my side like Crysis.
AND THE MULTIPLAYER IS AMAZING TOO!
BUT ****!
And Mr. Pinkus, imagine having a good PC that can run it. You install FC2, and your PC crashes and you have to clean everthing up or buy a new drive.
WELL THAT COUNTS HAS ONE TRY. after 4 others you can say your game goodbye or try whining ate the store for more

View Profile I don't see what the problem is at all. Five installs with unlimited re-installs. Completely reasonable, not to mention generous, stop crying.
