Quote from vault24Hi. Don't mind me, I am a newbie in animation. I still don't know if I will come to appreciate this medium (Photoshop is my bigger asset), but damn, I really wanted to animate something.
I tried to follow rules I have been finding around: Easy'ing, flow, making sure all the joints have been moved, making your own stickman.
Since mostly everyone suggests to start with punches and kicks, I decided to start with wall-scaling. Well, I did stick to suggestion of not posting your first animation, so I didn't. It's second one.
With all the stickfighting going around, I don't think anyone can say to me, that freerunning is a tired subject since after Mirror's Edge came out. :] I would like to do more of wall-runs, somersaults, leaps and drops in future.
I can see, that frame I made is a bit too big and I don't yet know what to do, to increase FPS of gif you are seeing. Maybe it's bmp. background that slows it all?
Any critique will be appreciated. [Do I post a smiley, or not?? Damn... that's a tough choice.]
EDIT: I unchecked merge, and gave frame delay. It's fine now.
EDITEDIT: Damn, since when imageshack does not provide with direct link? I had to hand-pick it from their thumbnail codes.
You're an exceptional beginner, congratulations! You post nicely without any spelling errors and such. You post in the beginners section for the first time, not make your own thread. Good job, man! "zawcisawesome" should learn from you :P

Yeah, its pretty nice and smooth, but theres a massive twitch when his arm extends. Fix that and post it again :)

Vault did you use the same body position in 2-3 different frames? I think it looks awesome especially for a beginner.. you seem to have already developed your own distinct style.. post me some more :)

Umm... in over-the-wall moment I didn't move all joints. I wanted to give the stick a moment of weighlessness. Also- because I have put in "key" frames, and inserted some intermediate afterwards- the very first frame is duplicated, when stick pushes himself off the wall.
I think I would use "key" frames for my next work, but because of simplistic character of pivot, adding intermediate frames is uncomfortable.
I next animation- wall jump to a higher ledge- I would need to move character's thigh in third dimension, thus make it shorter. I think I would have to use four sticks for that, each with a shorter thigh, for eight frames transition. OR maybe I could make a few interchangeable legs...
Ideas?
@Stickminator: You should make shorter ones, but only if you could enhance quality. More frames, less stiffness.
@Menma: I don't-know what I've seen in this animation, but I like it. Smooth and fluid. I see no twich.

No sire. You are no mere n00b. I'll tell you who you are:
A Lazy, Unimaginative Person.
and
A Waste of Forum Bandwidth.
Ok, since we have this sorted out:
I have animated yet another stick. This time it is a walljump to a higher ledge, as promised.

Personally, I think it looks worse than my "wall scaling". Maybe It's because I had to cope with this new system I developed. Stickman has a single leg and arm. Second appendage is interchangeable and made in four lengths. This allowed me to sort of put arm and leg in third dimension, when they would obviously not fit otherwise. It would be a bugger, if you cannot see it. I use it in mid-air and when stickman lifts himself using his knee. Without this "3D" his leg would move like a pendulum. I am afraid however, that it makes animation more edgy.
By the end I got too hasty, and made too few frames. I had to compensate, and insert some in between. Unfortunately, it is hard to make movement really fluid after that. But ohwell, it's my third.
Comments?
Sometimes a point of leg/ground contact shifts, but I will try yet another technique in next animation. I will use detachable appendages with central hinges that make ground contact. Without moving them on purpose, they won't change position.
PS. Could I get sort of approval for my own topic?

Do I understand well, that fidgets are inconstancies in movement speed? And stiff he is. I rushed more with this one to try out my interchangeable bodyparts. Will work on that though.

I am afraid this ollie does not look believable. A fully realistic movement would be hard to animate for sure, but you didn't capture the mechanism that makes skateboard lift off. Maybe some reference would help you. [Cannot post URL yet, sorry, search youtube for "ollie"] Notice the way front leg slides to boards' nose. It is crucial.
