I'd recommend you start with something simpler to get the basics sorted. (This is what I mean by "basics"). Something like a walk loop would be good for practising easing and getting a feel for the spacing.

My main problem was that it looked fine in pivot, and was not jittery at all, but as soon as I made it a .gif, well, it jitters. I don't know how I could animate it correctly when I am seeing something that isn't the same as the final result.

Did you try to change the frame-rate while you were animating it? A higher frame-rate can make it look better but no matter how fast you animated it the .gif is always the same speed. If this was the problem I'd recommend practising the lower frame-rate. It'll be less effort in the long run since you get more animation from the same number of frames.
It also looks like you haven't resized it at all. The animation will look better if you resize it by at least 50% when you save (or 1/2 depending on your version of pivot).

Oh, I think I did change the frame rate on it in pivot, that's actually upsetting that it does not carry over.
