Yes.

Also, I think I see why it looks stiff, even though the joints move. In a real sword slash, the wrists would move as well. The sword may start off at a right angle to the fore-arm, but it should finish of much straighter. I'm trying to put together an example of what I mean at the moment.

I see what you mean, though that's not a problem. I can get the guy go up from that point, to a normal stand position.

Though an example still won't hurt, and it also makes you make something :P

Here it is. I finished it last night but my computer was playing up so badly (hence the double post btw) that I couldn't upload it.

I'm not particularly happy with it. I especially don't like the legs and the line of blood frankly looks noobish, not to mention the fact that my stick doesn't have enough back joints, but it should demonstrate what I'm trying to say.

I think you should use a different stick, changing your stick style always helps with improving, I do it quite alot. Try using a thicker one. Can you please CC the animation i posted in the Flash section? :3

I suppose I could redesign my stick. The old guy has sentimental value though. Perhaps I'll animate the old guy beating up the new guy a few times to make me feel better.

As for your flash, I took a look at it and could see nowhere that I would improve on. If I was pressed for something I might ask to see an extra frame in on the second kick but even that would be just an experiment. The flash guys might be able to help you out more, but it looks great to me.

So the sword should go down more, almost hitting the ground?

That was more a mis-calculation of spacing on my part. I'll print screen the beginning and end to highlight my point.

The angle in the wrist is bigger at the end.

Edit: Hi NT. Could've sworn you changed your name to No Trusting or something of that nature.

I see what you mean, but that's unrealistic with pivot, for the stick I use has no hands, thus making it impossible to slide his arms like that. Or is realism not THAT important?

I never said realism was important. Hence:

But more relevantly, with stick animations, the stick is a representation of a human. Hands tend not to get added because they're so complicated, but generally we would pretend that they're there. My stickman has no bone structure - he's just a two dimensional pile of ink, but somehow he manages to move.

But realism is important if you want to make it look good, I don't think that your anim was good, sorry, but if you do a backflip you will never land on the same spot, you get more to the left in that anim, and afcaurse you won't jump that high.

And I'm not talking about realism in the way of the structure of a stick, but the things a stick needs to make it MOVE realistic. Like hands, to let it not slide with some things.

EDIT: I think I did what you said was wrong...

Work on easing instead of effects.
