ok, so I was talking to my friends about propositions, etc. Prop 8 came up(taking away gay marriage rights) and I said I don't support it... My friend Nate then said that it isn't right that gays can get married.. I countered that by saying that it's unconstitutional... He then tried saying If we don't support prop 8, kids under the 8th grade will be taught about gay marriage... Then I told him that he's a moron and said that in the fine print it says that prop 8 means taking away the states recognition of gay marriage... He then called me a damn sinning faggot and said that I'm going to hell because gay marriage is against the bible... I then said I'm not 100% religious because my father wasn't raised to be religious so he didn't raise me that way... He then attacked my father by saying, it's your fathers choice now to become Christian and he was raised wrong by jackass parents... I then said is he majically going to get up one day and say," I think I'm going to be a Christian...". Then my friend said he should... And by that time a whole buncha bible thumpers joined him by saying," prop 8 is against the lord and is a direct sin..."
If we support prop 8, wouldn't that be a step away from what our country was created for... I always thought that the US was suposed to be different from other countries by not taking basic rights from people just because they think differently from you?
My friends are idiots

LOL
So you think all the mean countries except from the US take away homosexual rights to marry? Jesus, are you even informed about anything? Lurk moar. As far as I know, gay marriage is allowed here.
"Our country ... " I guess the sociology teacher today was right when he said some Americans think their country is chosen by God or something, just like Izraelian Jews.
It's nice you don't support prop 8, but Hell, you've got some issues to straighten up. That etnocentrism of yours ...
EDIT: You remind me on Sarah Palin, when she said that attacking Iraq was merely excecuting God's will.
And when I say you remind me of Palin, that's not exactly a compliment.

I have nothing against christianity or any other religon and I can fully understand why they would think that way.
It just seems so warped though. "Love thy neighbor. Unless he is gay or has a different religion to you."
Your "friends" seem rather idiotic. I'm not sure what the aim of this thread is though. Is it to discuss our thoughts on Prop 8 or Religion, or am I missing the point completely?

Probably this is the point of this thread. But mann, I've never thought you'd be so ignorant.

Actually I dislike Palin... What I truly meant to say is when the US was created, they left mainly for religious freedom from Britain... Is it any better that we take away rights like marriage from gays? Are we any different from Britain taking away religious freedom in the 1600's?

I'll never understand shit like that.
I don't know if gay marriage is legal or not here. I can't say I pay attention, as it wouldn't have any effect on me.

Christianity has never stated something like that. It has stated the opposite though, which would be "Love each other no matter of differences". I'm not sure how it's said exactly, I don't know much religion but it's certainly not what you mentioned.

Hence why I said it's warped. Obviously.

Okay, if this turns into another Christianity bash, I swear there will be blood.
Also, I thought the colonies then wanted to become independent because England kept raising taxes and whatnot. Not religious freedom. =/

Just because someone disagrees with your life style, doesn't mean that they hate you. Jesus was a friend of the sinners, if there is any hate being put onto homosexuals, it is the fault of the people, not the belief.
