kidkick, you need to practice the basics before trying anything like effects.
Start with physics, easing, smoothing etc, then go on to basic stick movement (walking, running, punching) and then you can get all flashy and animate effects.
Ok for starters, use a different browser like opera or firefox, that should fix the framerate problem.
Now, I'm not gonna lie to you, the animation was bad. It lacked easing, flow and smoothness. Also, the trail was gross.
try using a smaller frame size and stick thickness. A size 2 thickness usually works for newbies.
