In games, you're usually playing as the good guy, but in the bad guy's point of view, you are the bad guy and they are the good guy, thus creating a paradox.

How about in war? You may be fighting a country thinking you're the good guy, but they are also thinking the same as you.

Is there ever a good or a bad guy?

Dude, wars don't just happen. They aren't just there.
There's someone who starts the war. He's the bad guy.
There's someone who defends himself. He's the good guy.

That's the simplest you can put it.

But would the guy who started the war think that he is bad? Would the country think they were bad?

Well, they wouldn't, but from an objective point of view they are.

That's like going "Well, you may be black, but you think you're not, so you aren't.".

In its own personal opinion every person on the planet is the good guy.
Legally, those who respect the law are the good guys and those who don't are the bad guys.

It depends how you see it.

there isn't such thing as good or bad. It's a perspective created by society to control people. Everyone can have their own views on what is right or wrong.

It's the individual attitudes of a individual that make himself labelled as a bad guy or a good guy

So if I fart you in the face and say it's good, it is good?

you may believe it to be, but me and most other people would disagree because that's what society has taught us. Generally most people agree with societies view on good and bad because the "bad" things are things the majority disagree with. It's just a viewpoint, but more and more people say it as if what they and society says is bad, is bad. It just so happens most of us agree with it (me included).

Besides which, I would quite like you to fart on my face.

You are pretty much arguing moral relativity, in which case there is no good or bad.

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. One army could just massacre an entire race, then when someone attacks them, the army could start defending themselves, and then they are the good guys?

Dude, it doesn't just so happen. Societies doesn't exist without people, and people don't just so happen to live in society. The general public's idea of what's bad is what's bad.

Also: "Generally most people agree with societies view on good and bad because the "bad" things are things the majority disagree with." Reread that sentence, and realise that you just said that "The majority agrees with society(basically the majority)'s ideas because the majority agrees."

In the particular case, yes. Of course you can't eliminate your past incoherences, I was just stating that it's easy to determine what's good and bad; an aggressive country, hungry for war is the latter.

Who is to judge what is really good or bad though? What gives you the right say something is wrong?

Since "good" and "bad" just mean "desirable" and "undesirable", it's purely relative.

"Evil" on the other hand means "intent to do harm". That means that the opposite of evil would be "nice", meaning "intent to help others".

You label people as you see them. If you want America to win a war, they're the good guys, anyone who opposes are the bad guys.

Simply opinions.
