so hi....its the end of my first week at animating in flash and..... I'm getting bored of the old run, walk cycle I was trying to perfect ^_^

So in the end I made these 2 (*well 4 if you include the fills ones*)....

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

ANIMS:

Walk: "watch" 15fps and on tablet

I prefer it in fills.... "watch"

Run: "watch" 15fps and on tablet

I also prefer this in fills.... "watch"

ALSO..I had some questions to ask of you....

1.) judging by these 2 animations...do you think I am ready to start animating combat?

2.) I was animating both at 15fps... Is that an ok framerate to use?

You still need to work on the basics and such like easing.

You probably never learned that because you use tisfat.

Tisfat doesn't use easing (for anyone who didn't use the program)

The walking looked the same as the running.

I just started flash a few days ago too.

thanks?...I know what easing is.....

Both the walk and run was from tutorials on stonesbucket.... so it can't really look the same as each other...

thanks scorpio... I appreciate your comments....

(I was trying not to slide the feet but he didn't go far enough forward...lol...i'll guess i'll have to work on that another time...)

What about using the frame-rate of 15fps... what do you think?

I think his arms come up a bit too far when he's running,
and he needs to leap a bit,
but other than that they're okay.

Most people use 18fps or 24fps, but I suppose its what you feel's better.
I'd up it to at least 18 but it all depends on what you can make look good.

Make sure your walkcycle don't slide like that, make him lift the legs some more..

You should work more on basics =)

What was wrong
Walking
- hes stiff, he should bend
- it was like "lagging"
- head should go up and down, floating, smooth movement
- the leg should slowly take off then quickly go past the second leg and the go forward, then the foot should be like this /, not like this -, I hope you see what I mean, because I dont want to draw right now :D

there were similar problems with the running =)
I pointed out what wasnt correct I hope you'll keep this in mind when animating another cycles ;) (not only cycles of course =)

Use whatever FPS you like...whatever your comfortable at.

Also, practice all sorts of things. So yes, go ahead to combat, but practice running and walking still!

Animations were fine as far as I could see, I didn't think there were issues with easing as much as much as it was the sliding feet, that created an illusion of choppiness as far as I could tell. Just fix that and you should be fine.
