Since when do people get a job like that at 18? Wouldn't they need college education first?

Not really, you don't need an education to get an animation job, its pretty much all portfolio driven, or it is from what I've heard.

Well yeah, I'm not really positive on big companies like Disney or something, but I don't know why they wouldn't accept you if you had an amazing portfolio.

Well yeah, that's what a lot of people usually think, but big companies like Disney probably use a degree as a way to weed out those they think aren't experienced enough to direct the next big Aladdin movie or whatever's animated nowadays. They probably look at degree holders before they look at everyone else.

Do disney even still do animations? I haven't seen them do anything but add quality to the old ones recently. It's all "High School Musical" these days.

Having briefly googled that I think I'm safe in saying WTF?!? If that's what Disney is churning out I'm not sure you'd want to work for them. The embaresment alone...

I tihnk it's majorly portfolio driven, but you would still need to get to the point where you have your own portfolio and that means going through College/University Education and maybe an apprenticeship to really hone your animation skills.

It won't die, it just won't. I've been here since late 2004 and as people leave, the "noobs" as it were end up being the "Vet" members. Just goes on and on, it ain't going to die.

Hermit Solmu used to be the vet back then.
Are you a vet if you been here for a year?

You're a "Vet" if people actually know who you are. It's not a time thing bro.

You're a vet if there's only fifty active members or less who've been here longer.

That's not an absolute thing, it's fairly subjective, but it's a decent measure.
