Hey, wondering how to make animations without using the rather difficult and time-consuming frame-by-frame method. My hypothesis is that I should make every joint and save it to library or something, but I really have no idea. Thanks.

That's actually much more time consuming that just drawing it on every frame. I don't know why people think frame-by-frame is so hard.

what if you made the aniamtions frame by frame on flash, saved them as movie clip symbol?


its still fram by frame but would save alot of word re aniamating ever frame,

Uh, you could use motion tweens. But that would look terrible for more complex movements.

The other alternative is to use shape tweens. Before I started frame-by-frame animation, my friend told me how to use shape hints to move vector limbs. You just apply the shape tweens, and then Ctrl + Shift + H to set the hints as to where you want the tween to move. They help direct the tween.

Frame-by-frame is the best alternative though. It may be time consuming, but if you're good, it looks great.

Frame by frame is the best way of animating.

Menma is right it is the best way, animation takes pactience, and even more so if you do it the right way.

But if you really want to use tweens you can. I don't, haven't, and never will.
Not even for movements with the exact same pose in every frame.

If you use a shape tween and the two poses are very different it tends to morph, making it look very unappealing.

And 2-D, piv users are not fags, it's just that pivot is the best place to start animating. I would have never started flash without it. But if they happen to never learn how to use an animation program where you actually draw it and never move on from pivot and do it the right way, I think it's just plain lazy.
