Title says it.
Im writing a book that is centered around 'the grim reaper' and his story of taking dead souls to heaven or hell. Its being written in a way that it isn't just one story, but to have a total of about fifty of them before its finished. Each one could be as long as a page, or it could be fifty pages.
The way storytelling in this works is complicated. Though the story is centered around the grim reaper, (Im calling him Kayne) it will also be the story of tons of other people, living or not. It follows them living what seems to be a normal life at first, but then being thrown into something interesting/horrifying/deadly/lovely etc.
For example: A girl's going home from a party at night at five in the morning. (I'd write a bit about the party itself as well) But when she gets in the car and starts it, she realizes that another person is in there with her. With a gun leveled at her head.
And then the story would continue.
And then there would also be stories about Kayne's land: Hell.
People who endure the day to day terrors of it. Being killed in painful ways. Trying to escape it and get another chance at life on earth. Or to get into heaven.

My book's going to be doing these kind of stories based on Christain beliefs, but just to let you all know, this isn't any kind of a bible. This is a fiction book.

So I need ideas. You guys can help me with them in lots of different ways. You can create characters, tell me what kind of story I should put next into the book, give ideas what heaven or hell could be like, anything would be appreciated.

If you have any ideas that I forgot to ask for, you can give them.

Oh and also, I'll try to get this published if its finished. I'll give everyone who's ideas I use credit.

For the last one, its for what kind of character you want to make. People in hell dont necessarily have to be human, though. They can be things that are made to terrorize people living in hell, instead. And people in heaven can be angels.

Appearance: Long white hair, usually concealed by a hood. Wears a big black robe that covers his entire body. He also carries a scythe.
Backstory: He can't remember his life on earth. He's spent the past thousand years as the grim reaper. They say the last one found a way out of hell, lived a better life on earth, and got into heaven.
Personality: Kind of like a kind old man. Heartened by a thousand years of separating friends, ending love, and causing torture with taking souls from earth to heaven or hell. He's also had a thousand years of fighting experiance from the terrors of hell. He's a force to be reckoned with.
Hell

Name: Jason Andrews. Age: 28, Sex:Male.
Appearance: Dark brown hair, blue eyes, caucasion, 6 ft 2.

Name: Barnabas Moore (Nicknamed Death/Murder.)
Age: 17
Personality/Backstory: Unpredictable. A loose cannon. He killed all those in his family that he hated. His father who abused him most of his life, and all of his step-family: who showed no affection for him. He covered up his traces too well that not even the FBI could prove it was him. He was a mastermind.
He spent the majority of his life in pain. Emptiness. He didn't belong anywhere, and everyone hated him. This pain could only be sated for a bit, and only by killing innocent people.
When he finally died of old age he went to hell, he was tortured to the point of being tranformed into a horrific beast that could not be recognized as a human. He's more of a monster, now. But he's powerful, too. Powerful and evil enough to be the representation of the sin Murder.

Name: Dr Fred Hursely
Age: 62
Sex: Male
Appearance: Tall, white hair, glasses, two ears - one either side of his head, you can fill in the blanks.
Backstory: A psychiatrist specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy who knows that psychodynamic approaches are useless but often uses them anyway because they make him a lot of money. Two of his manic depressive patients have commited suicide because he failed to refer them on to a psychiatric hospital for lithium, instead prefering to continue taking their money whilst they received his therapy. In fact, the only drug he will ever prescribe is therozapine so that his patients are calm enough to pay him without shouting too loudly. (If you need any help with the technical stuff on this one then message me) He is married with two children. He owns a large house in a nice neighbourhood and a good car because his job pays a six figure salary. He also owns a dog - a small female chinook called Poppy.
Personality: Shouts at his assistants, selfish, short tempered, cynical
Hell, Earth or Heaven?: Earth at the beginning, then he dies and goes to Hell because he only did his job for the money and often got people killed due to the lack of work. He was responsible for each death.

Apperance: long black hair, she is an albino with blue eyes wears a white dress.
backstory: At young age her father died in a car accident, and her mother became a stripper to earn money. She was secretoy a whore too in the night. Underage prostitutes made lots of money. One day a "customer" of her mother's became angry at her for doing a sexual favor badly, and beat her to death. of anger, Miley took a knife from the kitchen and struck the man down from behind, stabbing him again and again with the knife until he was dead.
When the police came, she was so wild, they had to take handcuffs on her.
Being uncontrollable, she was sent to the children sanitarium, where she had to be drugged often.
One day on a late schedule, a nurse had not drugged Miley. Taking adavantage of the situation she killed the nurse with her bare hands, took the key and escaped.
She was 9 then.
For years she lived on the street, breaking into people's homes and stealing their food. She'd kill them if they caught her red handed.
At the age of 16, she finally died. Kayne found her and took her to hell.
There she was tortured to insanity, her inner rage grew and grew as hell punished her by killing her friends over and over again. Now, even the demons that roam hell's land seem like angels in comparison.
Personality: Murderous, turned cannibal. She is pure evil.
Heaven, hell or earth: Hell. She's able to come up to earth and influence sins to human minds, though.

Age: 54
Sex: Male
Appearance: Short, chubby, brown hair. Thick eyebrows.
Backstory: Always had it good, had 'em girlfriends had 'em money...
He was married happily for ten years with his wife. But suddenly finds her cheating on him. She'd only liked him for his riches. In his rage, Frank divorces his wife and leaves.
Years later he comes back to kill his wife. But he fails. With the woman on the ground, beaten half to death, it turns out that his old child had been watching the entire thing. His eyes were streaked red with crying, though he only looked determined. In his hands was a knife. The boy killed his father to protect his mother.
Personality: Nice guy, always happy. Kayne watches out for him in hell, and the two hang out, sometimes.

Name: Cindy Braham
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Appearance: Blonde hair that went halfway down her back. She has thin brown eyebrows and shining blue eyes. In other terms, she's beautiful.
Backstory: Cindy was that she had grown up in a poor family. Her parents couldn’t afford anything besides groceries, and enough of the bills to barely stay above the eviction status. After an entire childhood of being very conscious of everything she wanted or asked for in fear of causing the final eviction note, Cindy made a vow to herself to do everything she could to get a job that would pay lots of money. She wanted to be able to get her kids what they wanted. Bikes, game systems, or whatever this generation of kids wanted. She didn’t want her kids living a replay of her life. It was an ambition that paid off.

Name: Ried Braham
Age: 25
Appearance: Always has a sort of frown. He's a police officer and has seen some bad things. On duty or off, he always wears his vest, and has black jeans.
Backstory: His marriage with Cindy is what you would call true love. Even if Ried came home, ashamed that he killed a man, even when he thought that Cindy shouldn’t put up with the times that he’d have nightmares in bed about the people he’s killed, people he’d sent to jail, coming up to torture him. No matter what problems they had, nothing could kill the undying love they had for each other.

Sex: Male
Appearance: Black hair, green eyes, average height, average build, um ... a big nose (just to add some sort of characteristic. Not too big. Just a little bigger than average. Like, by a centimetre or something.)
Backstory: Left school after college (not sure where you're from [Edit: Oh. Canada. Duh] but I'm talking British college which finishes at 18), has a long term girlfriend called Emma and lives with her in a flat in Newcastle. Emma is six months pregnant and not working. He works full time as a second-hand car salesman and because he's so honest he doesn't earn that much money doing it. As such they live in not a very nice area of Newcastle (and that's by Newcastle's standards. We're talking stepping over dead bodies to walk out the front door). One night their flat gets broken into and when Al confronts the burglar he gets killed with a crow bar.
Personality: Nice, honest, hard-working, caring
Location: Initially Earth, then Heaven.

Name: Nuk'zul
Age: Born in 34 BC
Sex: Male. Though it doesn't matter now.
Appearance: He's a skeleton with a crown and lots of jewelry, he wears black robes that were said to be stolen from Caesar Agustus.
Backstory: A king of an old forgotten kingdom, he was a nice man and took good care of his land, one day: He died, he goes to heaven, but insults God for letting him die, he then chooses to rather go to Hell. And then as satan was cast from heaven, he too was banished from the golden gates and into hell.
Hell. He's extremely evil nowadays.

Name: Jimmy Robertson
Appearence: About six feet tall, fairly athletic, short brown hair
Backstory: Failed most of his GCSE's and left school at 16. Got involved in drugs, mostly methamphetemine, lot's of other stuff as well. The drugs seriously fried his brain and he started hearing voices. He constantly thought that people were following him and would often have bad dreams. He turned to crime to fund his drug habit. When someone disturbed him while he was trying to rob a flat he panicked and killed him [Al] with his crowbar. He discarded the crowbar at the scene and police later matched his fingerprints to it from an earlier crime. At trial his lawyer requested a phsychological evaluation of Jimmy because he was shouting and screaming a lot in the holding cell. He was then refered to Dr Hursely who diagnosed him as paranoid schitzophrenic and prescribed thorazine as a course of treatment. This was essentially a chemical lobotomy and that made him useless at trial, leading to the failure of his insanity defence and him being sentanced to twenty years in prison. Five years later he was killed in the prison in some hideous and interesting way.
Personality: Aggressive, insane, confused, scared, angry
Location: Earth, then probably Hell

Backstory: Andrew fought in the Iraqi war, but one day when his unit stormed a city, he rushed into a house to find a family. The mother of the family came out of a room holding a gun at him. She was shouting "Leave my family alone!" in Arabian. Andrew thought she was yelling a threat and was about to shoot. Thus, in reaction, he shot the mother right in front of her children. After a mission report, Andrew was signed off the military for shooting an innocent. But on the ride from Iraq to America, his plane was shot down, and he was killed in the crash.

Personality: A tough cookie, has an angry tone, mildly tempered, misunderstands much.
