ive found my 80 gig internal hard drive too small for anything. So i must resort to a external. I would like to keep the price under $100 and preferably much lower. I definitely want like 200+ gigs in it. Also some general information on how they work and stuff like if you can run like applications that are stored in it.

yes they can run apps off of it, and they are typically usb.

Not much, just go for one with a medium rpm rate

Not to offend, id like a more technical answer. Like what its actually doing to it. I dont even see what would be needing to be spinning in a hard drive

Short for Revolutions Per Minute, RPM is used to help determine the access time on computer hard disk drives. RPM is a measurement of how many complete revolutions a computer's hard disk drive makes in a single minute. The higher the RPM, the faster the data will be accessed; for example, if you were comparing two hard disk drives, one with 5400 RPM and another with 7200 RPM, the hard disk drive with a 7200 RPM will be capable of accessing data much faster than the 5400 RPM drive. However, it is also important to note that a 5400 RPM drive will be much cheaper than a 7200 RPM drive.
You should look for something like this:

depending on where you live/which site you go on. Generally, they're cheaper in America.

I would recommend that, its 135$
but its also 1TB,
I say a cheaper route would be to buy a bigger internal HD (assuming you use a desktop PC)
