stubbed toe

yeah, I stubbed my toe and it started bleeding beneath the nail. The top half of the nail is now dark because there's clotted blood beneath it, and you can see the clotted blood. What's best to do, rip it off or let it heal?

Let it heal.

I've bled beneath the nail before. Nothing special. Just wait.

OK, thanks. I think my nail will probably die and drop off and grow a fresh one. Damn raised fireplaces.

Actually, poke a small hole in the top of the nail with a needle or thumb tac. I used to have to do it all the time. Heat it up with a lighter or something first though. Lets the blood out.
