I think he meant that noone claps in his theaters.

And I've seen four movies that ended in applause: Gran Torino, Watchmen, Star Trek, and Drag Me to Hell.

Director Sam Raimi's in his element in this film. The hard-to-please critics at Rotten Tomatoes gave it a combined score of 93%.
