lol ;) @ fitzy, yeah I'm glad you caught that. The link is in your signature and I was curious so I took a look. Actually I'm pretty sure the that I've seen and enjoyed your stuff before. The name st3lf looked very familiar. But yeah, creative suprises are what really make those simple scenarios come alive and capture the imagination.

As for the thread involving Lixu, I said what I had to say in post #55 of this thread so I won't go into that again.

@tomocles, I agree with just about everything you had to say in your (quite pleasant and reasonable) post, but I do beg to differ about the importance of the animations in helping kids. One of the interesting things about internet interventions for kids that have been attempted so far is that it isn't uncommon for 70% of the participants to not finish the program. So keeping people coming back to the intervention is absolutely critical. I have almost no doubt that a big part of the reason people drop out of these programs is that they're dull as sh** and have no real character. I think the animations could be a very big part of keeping users engaged because it allows the program to have a personality.

Of course I could be wrong about that, it's an empirical question and hopefully in six months or so I'll have data that confirms or disconfirms the point (or then again maybe I'll just have wasted a lot of time and effort).

...that would suck. :)

Here is the Lixu's first animation that will be used in the program.

http:// arbiter.asu.edu/vcc/jb/3-4.html (I still can't post links, though at the rate I'm going it won't take too long before I can)

I'm trying to figure out how to best use timing. Anyone have an opinion on whether or not the actions should ideally happen before, after, or during their audio cue.

Also, I have no idea if anyone is interested in this, but this morning I had this random idea that it would be cool if the program's logo was animated. The letter's of CoD-CoD are supposed to sort of look like two fish and it would be cool if every 10 seconds are so the flipped their fins (in this case the letter "C") for a second or two (maybe with some sort of small sound to go with it).

I'm sort of maxed out on paying people and I don't want to ask anyone who is already doing animations for me so this would have to be a public service sort of thing but if anyone happens to be interested I think it would be great. I put the logo up here just in case:

No big deal if this doesn't happen, I know it isn't really the kind of animation people probably like doing. I just thought I'd throw it out there because it would be kind of a cool add on.

It's already clear that stone's intro animation is going to be awesome and I'm tempted to post what it looks like so far, but I think I'll wait until it's finished. Looks like that isn't too far off.

Oh screw it. I think it's too cool not to post and stone said he didn't mind people seeing the unfinished version.

Here it is though there are still one or two escapes to come between the big jump and when he's running through and dropping them like flies.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

This one is for an intro to the whole program. The beginning shot will be a still of just the stick figure and the logo for a few seconds. To make it look like something that's static, then the animation will begin.

Basically it will be like the opening credits of a movie. Something to draw you in and get you in the mood for something special.

The basic idea behind the storyline of the actual animation is that our little stick "hero" is using CoD-CoD (symbolized by the logo) to defeat all sort of mean nasties in clever ways. Sort of symbolizing how kids can use the skills they learn in CoD-CoD to handle any situation.

...I realize that probably the symbolic meaning won't ring through loud and clear. I think that's ok, better to be subtle and set a tone than to hit anybody over the head with our message.

EDIT: P.S. Also it's just cool to see somebody outfox/beat up on bunch of bad dudes coming after him. Who doesn't want to see that?

Hahahaha. You guys are so ****ing stupid. You don't even know how I talk to Jesse with e-mail or via msn. Seriously, you guys don't know nothing so shut the **** up you ****ing idiots.

Hmm, you seem like a pretty cool guy, ya know? With all the cussing and such, must help boost your self-esteem?

Anyways, back on topic: Or I guess still off topic of the original post..still

You said "You don't even know how I talk to Jesse with e-mail or via msn."
Why does it matter how you talk to someone?
It's the inner intentions that decide a person, not how they WANT people to see them.

It's pretty sickening, in my personal opinion, when your only motivation for your actions is the materialistic possessions of this Earth; i.e. money.

Please start thinking before you start typing such an elaborate message, such as the quote above; might hurt yourself.

He says this, while his signature is about money.

Glad to see your helping kids :)

Yes it is about money, but the difference is, I'm not taking advantage of kids in order to receive my money.

Don't try to turn this around.
