I think you need to think long and hard about your pacifism. Why are you a pacifist? Because violence is wrong and there is always an alternative would be the standard answer. In this case the only person that the violence hurts is a violent person who will hurt other people wheras you will not. There may be no alternative in this case either. Don't actually confront him, but if you're cornered then for God's sake defend yourself. Kick him in the balls and then go for the throat or the back of the head (whichever's available). Self defence is not wrong when there is no alternative.

Defending yourself is not fighting. Its living.
