So Stickpage, my favorite and first dog just died an hour ago. I've had him since I was 2. His name was BB (BeeBee) and he was a yellow full blooded male lab. I came home from friends house, see my dad digging in yard and see a hump with a blanket over it and his dog pen open, so I knew what happened. I was upset but no tears, until a min. ago where I found an old puppy pic of him with me in the sand box.

So, what was your first pet?

My first pet was a yellow lab named Lucy, who was already there when I was born. We were driving to the park once, and she was following us, we made a left turn and she made a right and got ran over.

I'm sorry to hear the bad news about your dog, that's really sadz.

Mine was an white american eskimo named missy, we got her when i was just over two years old, but then we had to put her to sleep when I was 10 because she had diabetes and was blind in one eye.

Sucks losing a pet that you've had for so long.

I've had a cat before I was even born. He was named Pebbles and he was Persian crossed with Hemilayen or however you spell it... Well anyways, like 2 years ago it slept outside and a Racoon got it and we never found it's body.

I had a cat and a chinchilla ever since I was born[a chinchilla is little furry rabbit/squirrel/mouse type thing thats really fluffy] The chinchilla died first, he died of old age, he was nocturnal so I didn't really see much of him but I remember his huge cage my dad built for him out of an old media center and hearing him chewing on the inside of it at night. The cat lived for a REALLY long time I think she died at 18 or 19 years old. For about a month the cat wouldn't move from her favorite spot of an cardboard tomato box lid by a window so we put her food next to her. It was like that for about a month. I wake up one morning and my brother and my mom were talking about burying her. That one didn't effect me much because we all knew she was going to die soon. The weird thing about our cat is that it had no tail, it wasn't cut off, it was a birth defect...

I've had two dogs since then [including my current dog]

EDIT: @fringo; how do you know it was a raccoon if you never found the body?

My parents gave me a rabbit for my birthday when I turned six years old. About two years later, I watched it die on my kitchen floor. It was a pretty rough experience considering I was about eight years old.

My first pet was either my cat, or my Gecko.

My gecko was a badass. Taught it to bite.
It died last year, was about 3 or 4 years old.
My cat, still living.
Think it's about 2. So the gecko was my real first.

If you mean just as in an animal you've had in your family, it'd be my cat. 15 years and it's still alive.
