0.99 recurring is as close to 1 as physically possible, and even more than that, so in relative terms: Yes, 0.99 recurring = 1.

that fact only holds true if we agree that .9999999... is one. so I don't think that really proves anything.
That said, I agree with you. It is generally agreed upon in the mathematic community that .9999 is 1.

Here's another attempt at proving this. Methinks it's irrational to try and compute an infinite value. 6^infinity = null because you will never finish computing that. Same idea with 10*0.999 to infinity and beyond.
