i dont think people would be freaking out about science and religion merging together as much as they would be freaking out because they think aliens will conquer and enslave us all because they think of themselves as "god"

well that would make us gods becuase we are aliens to other aliens.

I don't believe that ANYONE could live in that world. People who believe in science, would be divided and either fight for the truth as to whether or not it's scientifically plausible, or try to dissect and kill the aliens with bio-nuclear weapons(oh no E.T ;~;). And Religion would be divided and either ask the aliens to a) prove it. or b) destroy the sinners and heathens. Then us regular folk, would either, riot, worship the aliens, or try and kill the aliens. (if aliens can die, they cant be gods, eh?(regular person logic))

So either the above would happen, and the world would get worse and worse, with more division, and more fighting, or the world would stay the same, with science divided from religion. Religious people worshiping the gods, and Scientific people disproving, or trying to disprove that the aliens really are gods.

If for some reason though, the scientists prove they are gods, and religious people accept them as gods, and us regular folk decide it's not Armageddon, I do believe I could live in that world. The alien/god species would probably offer advanced technology and knowledge, and lead the world to peace and harmony. (or enslave the human race.)

maybe 20% of the scenarios have a happy ending. I don't like those odds.
