Ok so i just got 3Ds max and this is my first model ever, well except for making a load of box's and circles to try to resemble a penis.

Im pretty proud of it for it being my first and all but i did follow a tutorial but not every step of the way. Also any tips for making a head or how to make his shirt not "merge" into him? Advice on how to make it skin colour and his clothes textured etc. Thanks.

Update, Slightly fatter body and has sprouted what seems to be a head. Does anyone know how to animate it? Thanks. Oh and i was seeing what that biped thing i saw on youtube was but i dont think it would help.

I've never used any 3D software, but to my eyes that looks very good for a first.

Yeah, that's really good.
The shaping and stuff could be better so it resembles a human even more, but it's fine the way it is.

You should try animating with 3Ds Max or work on materials. Shit, if you learn how to do a reactor, you should teach me >_> lol.

Keep up the good work.

As Arch Angel said, very good for a first time. Usually the first thing people do is model simpliler objects, but you went and moddelled one of the hardest things to to. Good job, are you going to attach a biped after and animate it?

Arch Angel: Dont you know how to use reactor? I assume you do, but i can show you, its pretty simple.

Thanks guys it means alot, i wanted to model something hard because if you can do something thats hard what the heck is going to stop you when the easy stuff comes.

Also how do i attach a biped and animate it? Thanks in advance.

Can you inform me via pm, cronos? That would be really helpful.

Vile, I'm not sure about attaching a biped, but animating is pretty easy. You should test this out with a cube or something first before trying harder things. I started off tweening cameras around. Basically if you look at the bottom of 3Ds Max, you will see the funky time bar looking thing with a key and lots of other gizmos. That is your timeline. One of the buttons down there goes to timeline properties where you can set the frame amount and FPS and stuff in. Highlight al of the object you want to animate, and then press the giant key down at the bottom. You might also want to click the autokey button. Then go to the bottom left of your timeline and click a button that should show a mini whatever on your timeline. It will look like a timeline with lines dictating a certain frame spot, usually by 100's or 10's (in my case). If you right click you can select an option that says set 'whatever'. The basic idea of this is to plot little markers on the little timeline thing that will represent as keyframes. Keep in mind that you should always have at least one long bar going across this, if you don't, something is wrong. Also be careful about your X, Y, and Z sections because you can mess it up. Sorry for my terrible explanation, I'm doing this off of memory because I'm not at a computer with 3Ds Max on it.

There are some really good tutorials at: www.tutorialized.com
Click on the 3Ds Max link on the left navigation bar. You might have to sign up though (its free). Last time I was on that site it said I needed to sign up to view the rest of the tutorial.
I hope I managed to help somehow >_>

The animation could be better, but it's better than anything I've ever done, lol.
Good job. Now you should work on making materials. The material button is on the top bar towards the right side. It's made of 4 different colored circles.

Alright, there is a few things wrong with your model. I don't know what you did but i'm assuming you drew him as a box and then smoothed him out using subdivisions, I'm not sure, but don't do that. Use a Cylinder, make it into an egg shape, then form from that. I've stopped using 3ds max, Because i've been more, ehh, profitable from Blender, so some of my terms may be incorrectly stated.

It is a great model, however.

Nice, if you dont want the "shirt" to stick to him just make another object ;) but people usually keep everything in one object and then you can give it some texture so it looks like its not part of his skin..

Btw, dont do it the way the guy says, do it with "extruding" thats the best way for me.And use references ! :)
