Why is it whenever one small thing one race does to another, the other race seems to get a giant mob and all breaks loose because the first race was "racist"?
Kind of like Don Imus and his Nappy Headed Hoes comment. An established comedian like Chappelle or Mencia (well, hes not established) make money off of making racial jokes, but someone that's known for his shock jokes and the like needs to be "fired" and "never allowed to work on radio again" because he makes a small joke that doesn't even directly use any racial terms? Jesus.
The latest thing here is this Prof. Gates scandal bullshit. A man is on vacation. He comes back. The day hes back, a woman (who the media seems to love pointing out shes white for what ****ING ever reason) calls the police because she believes someone is trying to break into his house (when in actuality, it is just the house owner returning home). The police come, they ask him who he is and for some identification, he says who he is without any actual evidence to support it, they ask him to step outside, and he starts bitching and yelling and saying "IS IT BECAUSE I'M BLACK?" and making a domestic disturbance. The police then arrest him because of this domestic disturbance because its attracting a crowd.
Then, the whole ****ing country seems to lash out and get pissed off at the officer(s) who arrested him, because he was "black". Obama himself even says "the police acted stupidly [in this arrest]"
How in the ****ing hell is this a god damn racist event? Because the officers arrested a man who they believe was trying to break into someones house and wouldn't show proper identification? Because they responded to a break in call? Because he was making a domestic disturbance?
I mean my god. Its just a bunch of shit, and even worse when the president sticks his nose in it and makes comments before he even knows whats actually going on.
The man was released and charges were dropped, but oh no, thats not enough. Well, the officer has said he isn't apologizing, because he didn't do anything wrong. And thats a fact, he didn't. He only did his job. Well, the media is seemingly starting to understand all this, and are saying that "Oh, maybe it wasn't all that racist" and Obama himself even apologized for his comment (even though I've heard that NOWHERE except one source)

I agree.

I'd figure the cops would say "Oh...shit you're that football player! Haha, sorry to cause any trouble sir, need any help with that door? Hey can I get an autograph?"

It seems you may not exactly know everything that went down in this case, though I understand the frustration of the apparent pulling of the "race card" here again. Here's the actual story, from CNN:

Here's the main part:
Here are some videos of Obama talking about it:

It seems he probably did show the officer ID and proof, but then wouldn't shut up. The officer could have just walked away instead of making the unnecessary arrest. At the same time, Gates could have just went inside after showing ID and shut his mouth. I think both of them handled the situation incorrectly. The race issue shouldn't be talked about in relation to this case, but it was. Obama shouldn't have commented as he did, but he didn't think it would be such a big deal. The main issue is the actual story, not the races of the involved parties.
Also, MiniMan, I again do not understand what the **** your joke is in reference to. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is a professor at Harvard, not a football player. He also does not resemble any football player I've ever seen.

Here's the main part:
Quote from "Wayne Drash, CNN"Gates was arrested last Thursday in broad daylight at his Cambridge, Massachusetts, home for disorderly conduct -- what the arresting officer described as "loud and tumultuous behavior in a public space." The charge was dropped Tuesday on the recommendation of police, and the city of Cambridge issued a statement calling the incident "regrettable and unfortunate."
Gates had just returned from a trip to China when a police officer responded to a call about a potential break-in at his home that was phoned in by a white woman. According to the police report, Gates was in the foyer when the officer arrived.
The officer asked Gates to "step out onto the porch and speak with me," the report says. "[Gates] replied, 'No, I will not.' He then demanded to know who I was. I told him that I was 'Sgt. Crowley from the Cambridge Police' and that I was 'investigating a report of a break in progress' at the residence.
"While I was making this statement, Gates opened the front door and exclaimed, 'Why, because I'm a black man in America?' "
According to the report, Gates initially refused to show the officer his identification, instead asking for the officer's ID. But Gates eventually did show the officer his identification that included his home address.
"The police report says I was engaged in loud and tumultuous behavior. That's a joke," Gates told The Root. "It escalated as follows: I kept saying to him, 'What is your name, and what is your badge number?' and he refused to respond. I asked him three times, and he refused to respond. And then I said, 'You're not responding because I'm a black man, and you're a white officer.'"
Here are some videos of Obama talking about it:

To me, the main issue there is the race card. "Because I'm a black man in america?" is just the dumbest ****ing thing I've ever heard in such a situation.
Jul 25, 2009 9:40 PM #466436
The guy was understandably pissed and said whatever he could think of. You're right, it was not a good idea to say that, but still.
Jul 25, 2009 9:41 PM #466437
He was NOT understandably pissed. The police were there because of suspicions that someone may be breaking in there, he should be ****ing thankful that they're watching out.
Jul 25, 2009 9:43 PM #466438
He showed them proof that he lived there and they didn't apologize and leave. I know I'd be pissed if the police tried to arrest me for breaking into my own home.

He came up with that shit before proving he lives there.

Either way, a police officer is trying to arrest me for entering my own home. I would definitely be pissed right away. I don't care if that's illogical to you, I'm just saying that I can understand why he was so mad instantly.

That could have contributed to his short temper, I suppose...

I'm learning more and more about this bullshit every second.
I already knew everything you just posted. However, did you also know that it was reported (and I didn't find out until just a little bit ago) that the police report the woman filed was for two people breaking into the house?
The officer was talking to a man in the reported house (Gates) and the man kept refusing to come outside and show some real ID, and the officer asked about the other person or if he was even with another person, but Gates refused and said to mind his own business.
So the officer at this point was either thinking this guy WAS breaking in and his partner was somewhere inside, or two people were already breaking in and Gates is unaware.
Also, I still find it complete bullshit Obama made public comments about this situation before he knew everything, and he didn't even really apologize in his new statement, he just said "I should have chosen better words" or something to that effect.
No, Mr. Obama, instead of choosing different words, you shouldn't have said anything in the first place. Don't get involved when you don't know the whole story.
*edit* Damn, so many typos and mistakes. Fixed somewhat.

He was being treated like anyone in that situation would have been treated, black or white or green.

Quote from ScHaLLHe was being treated like anyone in that situation would have been treated, black or white or green.
Thats what makes it so ****ed up.
There was a black comedian that made a comment about this where he said "Yeah, people come to my mansion and when I answer the door, they ask if they can see the man of the house, implying I'm just a servant there or something"
Um, I had my own place for a few months, and people asked me where the man of the house was, but I didn't think of it as anything. Sure, a little age difference, but it doesn't matter.
