The reason it's hard to understand is because a. as humans we can not imagine the mind of a different creature any more than we can explain color to a blind man and b. intelligence is relitave. Perhaps we are the dominant species on earth because the mice and the dolphins are gifted with amazing physical traits as well and they have less need for intelligence. I say intelligence is relitave because different people think of it in different ways. The obvious argument to mice being more intelligent than us is "why haven't they made a computer yet? Or made any tool whatsoever? Or even discover fire?" Whereas some people think, "they figured out the puzzle faster than any human, even if they were the same running speed! Incredible!" What I'm trying to say is that there are different kinds of intelligence, and just because the mouse one is technically smarter doesn't mean it's more practical.

Imagine a bear, who is obviously dominant to a rabbit, saying the same thing. "The rabbit has speed, but we have our claws and our strategy." All species are seperated like this, but since we are human, we like to put ourselves in the center.

Firstly, we all agree that humans are animals, since we are all obviously consciously alive. It is also obvious that we have intelligence. Animals also are proven to have intellegence(we both have instinct, too, but that's not the point). The difference is nothing more or less than the ability we were created with. Let me explain.

When man was first created, however you believe, he was put here along with all these other animals that science has proven were here long before him. It seems logical to assume that man was not at the top of the food chain from the beginning. In the jungle, he had to hide from tigers, so he learned to climb a tree. In the forest, he had to run from the bear. Other animals were created with the physical ability to do these things. Humans were created with the mental ability. Same thing with those below us; bears have claws and teeth, eagles have talons. Humans, with their obviously weak bodies, have only their minds, and in turn the tools they create.
