Been listening to quite a few drum solos lately for ideas. What's you guys's preferences?

My spot still goes to Questlove, just from a rhythmic perspective, but I'd like to here what you guys have to offer in the solo department.

Well, it's clearly very standard, but John Bonham is truly one of the best drummers that have lived, and was very innovative with his solos. Nowadays people like to hate him because it's always been cool to dislike what used to be popular, but you should still check him out, even if rock drums is not what you're after.
Chad Smith is also very good at using the Hi hats in his beats, which makes them interesting.
Another incredibly amazing drummer is Martin Horntvedt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKL_Vovnc8s&feature=related
He's also amazing with the drum machine and loops:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVIFUQV20NM&feature=related

Yeah, Bonham's amazing. I was listening to Moby Dick earlier today. It was ten minutes of awesome.

Seriously, best drummers out there are Joey Jordison (Slipknot) and Lars Ulrich (Metallica).

In my opinion, drumming is more than a monotone sounding drum set, sixteenth notes on the double bass pedal, playing really fast on the snare drum all the time, and occasionally hitting the cymbals too hard, but of course, we all have our preferences.

Tool's drummer, Danny Carey. Might not me the best but he's my favourite.
