I think that when you enter something interfeers (darn it im a bad speller) with the technology such as communications, gps (if ships have it) and others. ANd therefore the ships just remain lost there. My theory =D

Some scientists propose that because of unpredictable weather ships become lost at sea, plus, something interferes the radar, sonar, and GPRS scans there. Blahblahblah and so on...
