Flash 8 all the way for me, that's my opinion anyway. I'm just gonna wait for Flash 10 to come out and see if it's really worth more then a months rent to upgrade. >.>

Flash CS3 is better if you're serious about being a graphic designer or scripter, because it has more features and the scripting language is far stronger.

Flash 8 would be a better choice if you just want to animate stick figures.

It's only limiting if everyone animates stick figures, and on top of that, uses the brush tool to animate them.

Okay then, but why limit something in the first place? Why don't they just leave the brush tool size alone?

EDIT: And believe me, it's much easier to draw something in Flash up close with a larger brush size. Ask anyone.

They don't know that we use flash to make stick figures. I guess they though having them bigger was uhm, unnecessary. And it really just depends on what you're making.

It's easier to draw anything up close (you know, for precise detail, etc)

Not just stickfigures.

But yeah, they probably just thought it was unnecessary.

Either they thought it was unnecessary or they needed to sacrifice something. Or maybe a bunch of more well known animators pointed it out that they didn't need it. Look, you wouldn't continue to sell something with an accessory you knew half the people wouldn't need, would you?

Yeah, because so many people animate stick figures that it's such a tragic flaw for them

...I guess.

Using a larger brush size is just a preference thing for me, then. That's why I went back to Flash 8. Otherwise, I would be using CS3 right now.

Well I've noticed the only people who find CS3 to be worse than Flash are the people who think the only thing Flash is made for is animating. If that's all you're going to use the software for, then you don't need to upgrade to the next software. But if you're more into programming and graphics and all that shit (and you aren't still animating stick figures), then maybe you need to upgrade.

Yeah, I animate more.

And AS 3.0 isn't really going to help me all that much.

Okay, thanks.

Though, in retrospect, I kind of think that it would've been more useful if they provided AS 3 as an upgrade for Flash 8 instead of making a whole new software. But I guess it would've been hard to do so what with Adobe taking over the company and all.

Hmm really what, or really why would you need to program in flash besides maybe button's, links to websites, stuff for the mouse cursor, making simple games or preloaders. Becuase really there alot more stronger programs out there that cost less and can accomplish better then Flash like for example C++ or Game Maker/RPG Maker XP. Of course if you were seriouse about being a programer I guess starting in flash isn't a bad idea. >.>

If you really need to make a statement like this, then you are one of those people who don't know what the software is even for. Flash is a multimedia program, remember? Why would you even ask a question like "why would you need to program in flash?" if you use less than half of what it's capable of?

And Game Maker is not better than Flash at making games. One big advantage Flash has over Game Maker in the game programming aspect is that it's multimedia. People don't have to download your games in order to play them. You only think it's better because it costs less than Flash.

O>o. i'm just saying that really Flash is mostly for animations and yes Game Maker does suck, RPG Maker XP is better at makeing games though (opinion....)

It's not mostly for animations. If it was, why isn't the animation aspect of it so glorified on the Adobe website? They more discuss the multimedia aspect, the programming aspect and the graphic design aspect.
