I use MSN. I have never tried AIM and can't really be bothered to, unless I find a ten to one majority or higher against me here. MSN is good enough.

From what I know, MSN is the dominant messenger here on SPP.
I use AIM. Been using it ever since 6th grade and no one in NYC ever mentions MSN as an alternative.

Yeah, but I think I remember someone saying that MSN is more common than AIM in the UK.
So basically if you live in the U.S, I don't see why you would be using MSN if you want to talk to friends, since basically nobody uses it except for internet people.

In all honesty I had never heard of AIM before I joined this site. I like your "MSN is more common in Britain" explanation better than "Zed's a technotard" so I'll go with that.

Quiet honestly, I stopped using both.
However, texting is ridiculously popular in college.

If any, I use MSN once in a while. But mostly I'm on ICQ, since that's what most of my reallife friends use.

STUFF and StrunG are spot on with these statements, methinks.
AOL Instant messenger came out when I was in fourth grade (May 1997). I did not have the internet until I was in fifth grade and the main reason I wanted it and encouraged my parents to sign up was so I could chat with my friends using AIM. The program has a special place in my heart and has never cause me any computer trouble. This is mainly why I use it to this day.

Isn't texting multiple people a hassle? I mean, I'm usually chatting to 5 or more people at once on AIM and that'd be a bitch if I were texting.

You just gotta take 'em one at a time and continuously check that you're responding to the person you intended. It can be somewhat annoying on non-smartphones.

Both. AIM dominantly though.
