Protesters assault a handicapped girl in france- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDLfj8cKmc0&feature=related
Londoners do their part - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-iW3OHns8Q
Torch stopped 200m from starting point in Paris - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlA_nkMWhYk&NR=1

The torch is currently in San Fransisco, where there is a ****ing ARMY around the torch. They also had to set up decoys and change the route to aviod the protesters. Lame sauce.

So basically, there's a bunch of Tibetans trying to sabotage the Olympics which is going to be hosted in my country?

I know what's going on with China and Tibet, but seriously, the things that happened in those videos you posted were seriously retarded. What's attacking the torch holder going to do to Tibet? Definitely not going to persuade China to free Tibet that way.

I'm for the Olympics.

Tibet got raped and invaded by Communist China. The UN isn't doing anything without enough global attention, so this is the perfect way to gain attention. Stopping the torch is symbolic to stopping China's actions.

I will agree that the olympics really shouldn't be a victim here. Who cares, it's not like anyone can run in that smog hole called China anyway. I love a good riot anyway.

The tibetans are trying to ruin the olympics for china, and china already looks bad, they are killing and jailing tibetans for very long periods just for protesting peacefully.
What I also don't get is why china needs tibet anyway, they already have enough space.

smog hole? At least China's doing better than America. Don't hate on the whole of China because of one group's decision.

The Tibetans could've lived like any Chinese citizen. They didn't have less rights or anything, but the nationalists just had to protest. No riots this large in history has ever ended peacefully.

That's an awful lot of generalization to sum up a huge issue that has lasted for decades.

Besides, having the same amount of human rights as the average Chinese citizen, is still not a terrific amount of human rights. In fact, I find it deplorable the lengths that China has gone to censor information from its people to solidify the power of its corrupt government.

Sure, the Olympics may not have anything to do with this issue directly, but the protests are a symbolic act, meant to draw attention to the issue itself. You can't pass them off as silly and inane because "attacking the Olympics wont solve anything".

Nothing is wrong with the torch, but from what I'm seeing here, the Tibetans are just being assholes who wants to attack China in the most vulnerable way. China has been waiting for the olympics to be hosted in Beijing for quite a while and since the torch is going to end up in China, the protesters want to put it out, so the olympics won't "start".

Basically, if the protesters don't want to get jailed or shot, don't protest. Think of some other creative idea to negotiate with the Chinese government or maybe just deal with it. Honestly if the USA was still under British rule, I probably wouldn't give a shit.

I really have no intentions to debate anything simply because I can't debate, but yes, the censorship is pretty bad in China. My cousins in China still had access to porn when I went over there this summer.

And about the symbolic thing, I'm sure just standing there and protesting would've been fine. Having to get the police to wrestle you to the floor was probably unecessary and just an act that might leave you injured or even jailed.

Are you dense? Bikes are used because there's lots of traffic in China. Motorcycles are used most of the time because they can cut through traffic and there are still lots of cars. Surgical masks? Maybe because there might be some sort of pollution in the air? Don't be surprised, there are lots of dirts and sand in some areas of China. China's economy is getting better each year.

Did you find a poster with some guy in a surgical mask riding a bike or something?

The pollution problem of China is very real. Every "made in china" sticker was belted out by a factory.

Anyway, like I said. This is probably going to be a text book issue in the future. I just like to watch it unfold. I do love a good riot.
