If it's possible can someone tell me step by step to how to take the sound out of a video and edit the length of it in Movie Maker or Sony Vegas?

I use a program called MP3Recorder (The trial version actually lasts forever even though it prompts you to buy) to record sound straight from the stereo mix of my computer, and then another program called Wavepad to edit it afterwards. Both are free and high quality.

Sony Vegas:

1. Start a new project.
2. Import the video.
3. Add it to the timeline.
4. File -> Render As... -> MP3 Audio
