second, agreed. but what really does suck is that people who have no understanding of other cultures apart from their own, don't LIKE other people's cultures, and therefore give absolutely no thought to what it would be like to have to actually and physically fight for what you believe in. I know I may have no right to say this because im chinese and not american and this is just my opinion, but I think that americans have almost completely forgotten about their own culture, they just know it exists.

seriously an american guy i know (i know this is generalizing but...) said if china ever attacked the US they would just nuke them. No diplomacy, no negotiations no nothing. just nuke em and be done with it. if that kind of thinking inherits america in my generation, I would honestly prefer to be on a different friggin planet. I think americans (generalizing again I know, sorry to any americans with common sense) are now taking all their freedom and liberty for granted... but all of this is just me :)

Obama campaigned with the promise of having negotiations with other countries, whether they be enemies or not. This is in contrast to Bush's foreign policy and McCain's campaign promises, where they will only negotiate with "preconditions", meaning that the other country usually has to do something before we will talk with them. Obama has lived up to his promise so far as he has "visited more countries and met with more world leaders than any president in his first six months in office."

So you can rest assured that your American friend does not represent the current administration's policies at all.

On another note: The Senate passed the health care bill with the final 60th vote. A good win for the Democrats and perhaps our country. Although I do think they should take a look at it again since they had to literally bribe the 60th senator to vote for it. If you go by the senators and whom they represent it would be 60% of Americans want gov't run health care and 40% don't. Now all of a sudden the Democrats aren't listening to the minority. Uh oh.

It's not government run healthcare. It's government run insurance. All it does is push down the prices of the insurance companies. In theory the cost to the taxpayer is marginal. Everyone who knows what the bill is about (as far as I've seen) supports it. People who don't are mislead, and people who vote against it in the senate and congress are doing that to win the votes of the ignorant majority.

"In theory" yes. Which is the problem, it's just in theory. Everyone can speculate all you want but you don't know what the turnout will be. No he did not. His superior stated NOT TO FLY OVER THEM. But being a self-conscious, egotistical goof, who thinks because his father was a war hero that he could be, flew over them and got shot down. I think I said quite clearly that they are only voting that way to win elections; not because they don't want it to go through. That's the problem with democracy. The people who elect these guys are morons so the senators have to behave as morons want them to behave rather than as is best for said morons.
